The original Lenovo YOGA Tablet 10, model B8000, stood out for a cylindrical battery that doubled as a grip and a built-in stand. Lenovo’s specifications show the promise—and the limits—of that 2013 idea: a distinctive three-position design and a vendor-claimed mixed-use battery life of up to 18 hours, paired with a 1280 × 800 display, 1 GB of RAM and an Android 4.2 baseline. The phrase “A Cruel Joke” is a sharp editorial framing, not a verified independent review verdict; the available evidence does not establish how the tablet actually performed or felt in use.
What the Lenovo YOGA Tablet 10 is
Lenovo announced the original YOGA Tablet on October 29, 2013. Lenovo’s support materials identify the YOGA Tablet 10 as model B8000. This review concerns that original 10-inch model, not later Yoga tablets with similar names.
The B8000 was sold in Wi-Fi and 3G configurations, and Lenovo cautioned that specifications could vary by region. Its listed weight was 605 g. Those distinctions matter when identifying a particular unit: the processor configuration and storage tier were not identical across all versions.

| Cameras | 5 MP rear; 1.6 MP front |
| Audio | Dual front-facing speakers with Dolby Digital Plus DS1 |

These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent measurements. In particular, an upgrade option on Lenovo’s support page does not establish that every regional unit received Android 4.4, nor does it establish current security support or compatibility with today’s apps.

The defining idea: battery cylinder and built-in stand
Rather than making the tablet a uniformly thin slab, Lenovo used a cylindrical battery housing along one edge. The company described the cylinder as a handle and paired it with an integrated stand to support three positions: hold, stand and tilt. That is Lenovo’s design description, not an independently tested finding about comfort or stability.
Hold
The rounded edge was intended to give the hand a more substantial place to grip while using the tablet. Lenovo presented this as one of the design’s ways to interact with the device, but the available documentation does not establish whether the grip was comfortable for different hands or during extended use.

Stand
The built-in support let the tablet rest upright without a separate stand. This was the most visibly practical aspect of the design: the support was part of the device rather than an accessory to carry. The documents do not provide independent evidence about how securely it held its position on different surfaces.
Tilt
The stand could also hold the screen at a lower angle. Lenovo’s battery-test description specifies Wi-Fi browsing in tilt mode, showing that it treated this position as a normal use case. The documentation does not compare the viewing experience with other tablets.

How to interpret Lenovo’s 18-hour battery claim
Lenovo advertised “up to 18 hours” in 2013, based on a mixed-use sequence: 2 hours of video, 2 hours of MP3 playback in standby, 2 hours of Wi-Fi browsing in tilt mode and 12 hours of reading in hold mode. This is a vendor result using a particular combination of activities, not an independent battery benchmark and not a prediction for every user.
Lenovo also cautioned that actual battery life varies with screen brightness, applications, settings, battery age and conditioning, and user preferences. The claim therefore describes Lenovo’s stated test conditions; it does not show how long a B8000 with an aged battery would last today.

What the listed hardware suggests—and what it cannot prove
The specifications make the device’s trade-offs clear without settling how it behaved in practice. A 10.1-inch 1280 × 800 panel and 1 GB of RAM are the documented display and memory provisions of this 2013 model. The processor differs between Wi-Fi and 3G configurations, and internal storage was offered in more than one tier according to Lenovo’s sheet. These details are useful for identifying the product and understanding its original configuration; they are not enough to establish present-day speed, display quality or suitability for a particular app.
The same limitation applies to the cameras and speakers. Lenovo lists a 5 MP rear camera, a 1.6 MP front camera and front-facing speakers with Dolby Digital Plus DS1, but those specifications do not establish image quality, loudness or sound quality.

Storage and connections
Lenovo lists microSD expansion up to 64 GB. Its specification sheet also notes USB on-the-go charging with an additional cable. The accessory detail matters: the documented OTG charging arrangement requires an extra cable; the sheet does not say that every cable or accessory will work with every B8000 configuration.
Lenovo also listed an optional Bluetooth keyboard cover. The documentation supports that accessory category, but does not establish current availability, fit for every regional variant, price or seller reliability.
Software: an old baseline, not a compatibility guarantee
The B8000 support page lists Android 4.2 and an upgrade option to Android 4.4 KitKat. That records the historical software path Lenovo documented; it does not prove the update reached every device. Nor does it establish that current apps will install or function, or that the tablet receives present-day security updates. Buyers considering a used unit would need to check the software version and app requirements on that specific device rather than infer them from the historical upgrade listing.

As a headline, “A Cruel Joke” conveys disappointment, but the available manufacturer documentation cannot substantiate that verdict. It provides no independent findings about real-world speed, screen quality, ergonomics, camera or audio performance, or battery runtime. The defensible conclusion is narrower: Lenovo’s concept was distinctive on paper, while its listed hardware and software establish clear age-related limits as a 2013 specification set. Whether the handle and stand made the tablet worthwhile—or frustrating—requires hands-on evidence that is not established here.
For anyone identifying a second-hand device, confirm that it is the B8000 and check its Wi-Fi or 3G configuration, storage tier, installed Android version and battery condition. Lenovo’s published specifications alone cannot establish the condition or current usability of an individual unit.
