Lenovo’s ThinkStation P4 is a tower workstation whose reported configurations include an NVIDIA RTX PRO 5000 Blackwell GPU with 72 GB of VRAM and up to 256 GB of system memory. The 72 GB graphics option appeared in later reporting; Lenovo’s May 2026 announcement instead listed RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell graphics options with 96 GB of GDDR7 ECC memory. Lenovo announced the P4 for select markets worldwide from June 2026, and a report dated October 6 said it had reached Europe after earlier sales in Asia, Oceania and North America. That rollout does not guarantee stock or the same configuration in every country.
What the 72 GB VRAM figure means
The 72 GB figure refers to graphics memory on the RTX PRO 5000 Blackwell configuration reported by Notebookcheck on October 6, 2026. It is GPU memory, not the workstation’s system RAM.
Lenovo’s May 2026 launch announcement described a different graphics option: the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Workstation Edition or Max-Q, with 96 GB of GDDR7 ECC memory. The 72 GB option therefore should not be described as the P4’s maximum VRAM. The two figures relate to different GPU models and different points in the product’s reported configuration history. Lenovo’s announcement is at Lenovo StoryHub; the later configuration report is from Notebookcheck.
ThinkStation P4 specifications and configuration choices
Lenovo positions the P4 as an entry tower workstation. Its official launch announcement lists an AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D processor option, up to 256 GB of DDR5 system memory, up to six drives, and Windows 11 Pro, Ubuntu Linux or Red Hat Enterprise Linux options. Lenovo’s PSREF configuration reference says the memory capacity is supported across four slots and that storage can include up to three HDDs and three M.2 SSDs. Some configurations are available only on selected models or in selected regions.
#1 Best Overall
- Ryzen 7 PRO 3.80 GHz processor delivers powerful performance for exploring new possibilities and enhancing your experience
- With 32 GB memory, users can manage multiple programs simultaneously without losing performance
- Workstation runs complex database programs efficiently, ensuring speed and consistent performance
- 512 GB SSD capacity provides enough space to store large files, digital content, and documents
- 500 W power supply unit (PSU) fulfills your systems power needs for smooth and uninterrupted performance
Notebookcheck’s October 6 report describes configurations ranging from 16 GB of DDR5-5600 and 512 GB of storage to as much as 256 GB of DDR5-6400 and 48 TB of storage. It says the reported 48 TB setup combines three M.2 drives and three 3.5-inch drives. These are reported configurations, not confirmation that every combination can be ordered in every market. Check the local Lenovo product page or seller for the exact build.
What to compare before ordering
- Graphics: Confirm the exact GPU model and VRAM. The reported RTX PRO 5000 option has 72 GB; Lenovo’s launch announcement listed RTX PRO 6000 options with 96 GB GDDR7 ECC.
- Processor: Check which processor is offered in the particular market and model. Lenovo’s announcement names the AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D as an option.
- Memory: Up to 256 GB is the stated system-memory ceiling, but capacity and memory details depend on configuration. Do not confuse system RAM with GPU VRAM.
- Storage: Check the number and type of drives included, rather than relying on a maximum capacity assembled from multiple drive bays.
- Operating system: Lenovo lists Windows 11 Pro, Ubuntu Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux options; confirm which is included with the configuration you are buying.
- Region and price: Confirm local availability, taxes and the configuration behind the quoted price.
Where the ThinkStation P4 is reported available
Lenovo announced availability in select markets worldwide beginning in June 2026. Notebookcheck reported on October 6, 2026 that the workstation had reached Europe after earlier sales in Asia, Oceania and North America. This supports describing the rollout as global, but it is not evidence of universal availability or current stock. Lenovo’s PSREF also cautions that some configurations depend on model and region.

Reported prices and the 72 GB GPU premium
Notebookcheck’s October 6, 2026 report gave these starting prices. They are dated reported figures, not guaranteed live prices; the US amount excludes sales tax, while the Eurozone and UK amounts include taxes.
| Market | Reported starting price | Tax treatment in report |
|---|---|---|
| Eurozone | €1,793–€2,530 | Including taxes |
| United Kingdom | £2,114 | Including taxes |
| United States | $1,849 | Excluding sales taxes |
The same report put the surcharge for the RTX PRO 5000 Blackwell 72 GB option at approximately €11,000 in the Eurozone or £12,000 in the UK. Prices and options can change, so verify the current local listing and its exact configuration before buying.

What the launch does—and does not—establish
The P4 is presented as a workstation for professional and AI-oriented workflows, but the product specifications and positioning do not establish real-world performance. The available reporting here includes no hands-on test or independent benchmark, so it does not support claims that the P4 will outperform a particular workstation or handle a workload at a given speed.
Lenovo’s announcement also says, citing the CIO Playbook 2026, that “two thirds of companies prefer hybrid AI as their primary model.” That is a claim Lenovo reports from the playbook; the underlying publication is not independently assessed here. Lenovo executive Tom Butler described the intended audience this way: “As workflows become more complex and AI-driven, professionals of all levels require systems that keep pace with their evolving needs.” These statements explain Lenovo’s positioning; they are not performance measurements of the ThinkStation P4.
