Lenovo showed two laptop concepts at Mobile World Congress 2025: the Yoga Solar PC, which integrates solar cells into its design, and the outward-folding ThinkBook “codename Flip” AI PC. They are proofs of concept, not confirmed retail launches; the announcements establish no sale date, price, or retail availability for either device.
What Lenovo announced
The two concepts explore different ideas: adding solar technology to a slim laptop, and expanding a laptop screen into a larger vertical workspace. Lenovo presented both at MWC 2025 in Barcelona. Their announced features describe concepts, not confirmed specifications for products customers can buy.
Yoga Solar PC: what the solar feature is claimed to do
Lenovo describes the Yoga Solar PC as an ultraslim, lightweight concept with solar technology integrated into the laptop. The company says it is designed to absorb solar energy, including in low light, but its announcement does not provide a detailed test method or independent performance results. Lenovo’s MWC announcement and later Lenovo material describe the concept.
Lenovo later reported a conversion rate of more than 24% for its Back Contact Cell solar-panel technology and said 20 minutes of sufficient direct sunlight could provide up to one hour of video playback. Both are company claims about the concept, not independently verified results in the available reporting. WIRED reported that the panels are embedded in the lid and relayed Lenovo’s low-light claim, but did not provide controlled independent testing. Lenovo’s figures and WIRED’s MWC report do not establish how the concept would perform under a range of real-world lighting conditions.

Those sunlight figures should not be read as a general battery-life estimate. The stated video playback benefit depends on “sufficient direct sunlight,” and the announcement does not supply test conditions that would let readers translate it into everyday runtime or charging expectations.
ThinkBook Flip: how its expandable display works
Lenovo’s ThinkBook “codename Flip” AI PC concept uses an outward-folding OLED display. It starts as a compact 13-inch laptop and opens into an 18.1-inch vertical workspace, according to Lenovo. The company describes five modes—clamshell, vertical, share, tablet, and read—and a Workspace Split Screen feature for placing applications side by side. Lenovo’s concept announcement lists these features.

The idea is to move between a conventional laptop layout and a larger display without carrying a separate monitor. The modes and split-screen feature are Lenovo’s description of the concept; the announcement does not establish independent testing of their practical benefits or durability.
Announced concept configuration
Lenovo listed an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB LPDDR5X memory, PCIe SSD storage, Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a fingerprint reader. It also described a Smart ForcePad with a three-layer illuminated dashboard for numeric keys and media controls. These are details of the demonstrated concept configuration, not a confirmed retail model or final purchasable specification. Lenovo’s announcement is the source for the configuration.

Will either laptop go on sale?
The cited announcements identify the Yoga Solar PC and ThinkBook Flip as concepts or proofs of concept. They do not confirm a release date, price, or retail availability, so there is no substantiated basis to say either will go on sale. Lenovo executive Eric Yu described the Flip as a vision for future devices, not as a product launch: “The ThinkBook codename Flip AI PC Concept exemplifies our vision for the future—where AI-powered devices drive efficiency, personalization, and collaboration like never before.” Lenovo’s announcement attributes the statement to Yu, SVP of SMB and Commercial Product Center, Lenovo Intelligent Devices Group.
Do not confuse the Flip concept with the separate ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, which Lenovo identified as a production model. The Rollable is a different device, not evidence that the Flip has reached retail. Lenovo’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable announcement identifies that separate product.
