Lenovo announced its second-generation Legion Go handheld on September 5, 2025, during the IFA 2025 announcement period. The Windows 11 gaming PC pairs an 8.8-inch OLED display with detachable controllers and configurations reaching up to an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor. Lenovo’s original announcement gave a European expected starting price of €999 and September 2025 availability; those were launch-era expectations, not confirmation of today’s price or stock.
What is the Lenovo Legion Go 2?
Lenovo formally calls the device the Lenovo Legion Go (8.8-inch, 2); retail listings may call it the Legion Go Gen 2. Lenovo announced it at Lenovo Innovation World on September 5, 2025, during the IFA announcement period. It is a Windows 11 handheld gaming PC with detachable TrueStrike controllers. Lenovo’s announcement describes the product and its launch plans.

What is new compared with the original Legion Go?
OLED screen with VRR
The headline display change is an 8.8-inch OLED panel. Lenovo specifies 1920 × 1200 resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate and VRR across 30–144Hz. These are published specifications; they do not establish how bright, color-accurate or smooth the screen appears in independent testing.
More battery capacity, not a stated runtime
The Legion Go 2 has a listed 74Wh battery. Lenovo says its capacity is “over 50% higher” than the previous-generation Legion Go. That comparison concerns battery capacity only: it does not establish hours of play, since runtime depends on workload, settings and other conditions.

Redesigned detachable controls
The TrueStrike controllers detach, and Lenovo says their lines, feel and button layout have been redesigned. Features include Hall effect joysticks, a pivot D-pad, three programmable buttons configurable in Legion Space, and FPS mode, which lets the right controller work as a vertical mouse. A built-in kickstand supports play with the controllers detached. Lenovo states that the new controllers are backwards-compatible with the first-generation Legion Go; that statement applies to the controllers, not to the complete handheld or every accessory.
Price and availability: what Lenovo said in 2025
Lenovo’s September 5, 2025 announcement said the Legion Go 2 would be available starting in September 2025, with an expected starting price of €999. This was European launch guidance issued during the IFA announcement period. It is not a verified current price, release-status update or stock report; the announcement does not establish present availability in any particular country.
