The 11th-generation Lenovo Legion 5i pairs a sharp, fast OLED screen with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series laptop graphics. But its price depends heavily on the configuration and the snapshot: Lenovo announced an estimated U.S. starting price of $1,549, while 2026 reviews later reported markedly different prices for both entry-level and RTX 5070 models. The screen and keyboard impressed Gizmodo’s reviewer; price, heat, noise, and several physical details did not. Whether it makes sense depends on the exact SKU and the performance you expect at your target resolution.
What is the 2026 Lenovo Legion 5i?
This is the 15-inch, 11th-generation Legion 5i announced by Lenovo with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs, Windows 11 Copilot+ PC status, and a PureSight OLED display. Lenovo’s CES announcement gave an estimated U.S. starting price of $1,549 and expected availability from April 2026. Those were launch estimates, not a current retail quote. Lenovo’s CES announcement describes the product family and launch expectations.
For a buyer, the central question is not simply whether the Legion 5i is a good gaming laptop. It is whether the particular screen, GPU, memory, and storage configuration is worth its quoted price. Reviews published in 2026 report different prices, so the configuration and source matter.
How much does the Legion 5i cost?

| Source and timing | Reported configuration | Reported price |
|---|---|---|
| Lenovo, CES 2026 launch estimate | Estimated U.S. starting price; the announcement did not specify a retail SKU in the cited price statement | $1,549, with availability expected from April 2026 |
| Gizmodo, October 5, 2026 review | Base-level model; review says it had 16GB single-channel memory and 512GB storage | $2,526 at the time of writing |
| Gizmodo, October 5, 2026 review | RTX 5070 and 1TB SSD review configuration; article reports $300 for the GPU upgrade and $190 for the storage upgrade over its baseline | $3,016 through Lenovo’s webstore, as reported by the review |
| Tom’s Guide, 2026 review | Preconfigured RTX 5060, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD model | $1,899, as reported |
| Tom’s Guide, 2026 review | 512GB starting configuration | $2,355, as reported |
| Tom’s Guide, 2026 review | RTX 5070 and 1TB review configuration | $2,825, as reported |
Gizmodo’s October 2026 review and Tom’s Guide’s Gen 11 review do not report matching prices for equivalent configurations. Their figures are dated publication observations, not evidence of a single stable price. Before comparing offers, check the market, exact GPU, memory, SSD capacity, and whether the listing is the 11th-generation model.
What does the OLED screen offer?
Gizmodo’s tested unit had a 15.3-inch OLED panel with a 2560×1600 resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, and refresh rate up to 165Hz. The review also lists G-Sync, Dolby Vision support, around 500 nits of typical brightness, and up to 1,000 nits in HDR. Its reviewer regarded the display as a highlight, particularly for games where contrast, color, and motion clarity matter. These are review-reported specifications and observations, not independent measurements by this article.
The high resolution and refresh rate are attractive, but they also make the GPU choice important. An RTX 5070 configuration is not automatically necessary for every player, nor does the panel guarantee that demanding games will run at native resolution and high settings at a particular frame rate. Look for results on the exact configuration and game settings you care about, and treat benchmark numbers from different publications cautiously because their test methods and machines differ.
How well does it play games?
Gizmodo’s reviewer reported playing Gears of War: E-Day and Star Wars: Galactic Racer on the laptop. In the latter, the review says performance was just below 60 fps at Epic settings without DLSS. That is one reviewer’s observation for that game and setup, not a general performance guarantee or a result for every Legion 5i configuration.
Tom’s Guide tested a Gen 11 model with an RTX 5070 12GB and Core Ultra 7 251HX. Its published results were:
Rank #2
- Powered by Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, a 24-core CPU (8P+16E) reaching up to 5.4 GHz, built for top-tier gaming, multitasking, and creative workflows.
- Equipped with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 GPU, delivering advanced ray tracing, DLSS acceleration, and excellent performance in modern AAA titles.
- 16" WQXGA (2560×1600) IPS display with 240Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, HDR 400, Dolby Vision, and 100% DCI-P3 color for vivid and fluid visuals.
- High-speed 32GB DDR5-5600 memory and 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD ensure rapid load times and smooth multitasking across demanding applications.

These figures belong to Tom’s Guide’s named test machine and conditions. They cannot be directly compared with another publication’s results without accounting for differences in configuration, settings, and test procedure. See Tom’s Guide’s review for its test context.
What are the trade-offs in everyday use?
Keyboard, trackpad, and sound
Gizmodo’s reviewer praised the keyboard but criticized the trackpad and described the speakers as muffled. If you mostly play with an external mouse and headset, those shortcomings may matter less; for frequent travel or casual use away from peripherals, they are more noticeable.

Heat and fan noise
The same review flagged heat and noise as drawbacks. No standardized thermal or acoustic measurement for this Gen 11 unit was published, so the criticism should be read as the reviewer’s experience rather than a quantified comparison with rival laptops.
Portability and connections
Gizmodo reports that its tested unit measured 0.79 inches thick and weighed 4.25 pounds. It lists a 245W power brick for full performance and fastest charging, which adds to the load when carrying the system. The reported ports include Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, a second USB-C with power delivery and DisplayPort 2.1, three USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, and a headphone jack; the unit also had a 5-megapixel webcam. These details are from the review’s tested machine.
Battery life
Tom’s Guide measured 7 hours 3 minutes in its web-surfing battery test and 1 hour 27 minutes in its PCMark 10 gaming battery test on its RTX 5070/Core Ultra 7 251HX review configuration. Those are test-specific results, not a promise of runtime for other configurations or usage patterns. A gaming laptop’s unplugged performance and endurance can differ substantially from its plugged-in gaming experience.

Is the 16GB memory configuration a concern?
Gizmodo describes its Gen 11 base-level model as having 16GB of single-channel memory. That is worth checking before purchase, especially if you expect to run memory-intensive workloads alongside games. However, PC Gamer’s finding that single-channel 16GB memory constrained some workloads came from a separate Gen 10 Legion 5 configuration, not the Gen 11 laptop in this review. It is relevant context, not a tested result for the 2026 unit.
Do not assume a particular memory or SSD upgrade will fit or be supported based on these reviews. Confirm upgradeability and compatibility against the exact Gen 11 SKU’s specifications before buying parts.
Who should consider the Legion 5i?
The Legion 5i is most compelling for a buyer who values a high-refresh OLED display and a capable gaming configuration, and who can find a specific GPU-and-storage combination at a price that makes sense. The RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 listings are materially different choices; compare them using the games, resolution, and settings you actually intend to use rather than the product name alone.
- Consider it if: OLED image quality and a fast 16:10 panel are priorities, and the exact configuration is competitively priced.
- Look elsewhere or wait for a better offer if: the quoted price approaches premium-laptop territory but the configuration does not deliver the GPU, memory, or storage you need.
- Check before ordering: generation, GPU, RAM capacity and channel configuration, SSD capacity, seller and market, return terms, and the current price.
How does the older Gen 10 model compare?
PC Gamer’s September 30, 2026 review covers a different product: a Gen 10 Legion 5 with a Core i7-13650HX, RTX 5060 8GB, 16GB (1×16GB) DDR5-4800, 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, 15.1-inch 2560×1600 165Hz OLED, 80Wh battery, and 1.9kg weight. It reported £1,348 in the UK and $1,499 for its closest U.S. configuration, which used a Core i7-14700HX. PC Gamer also measured a 99°C maximum CPU temperature under load and average gaming temperatures of 81°C on the GPU and 76°C on the CPU for that Gen 10 configuration.
Those prices and thermal results should not be attributed to the Gen 11 Legion 5i. The older review is useful only as context for how configurations and pricing can differ within the range. See PC Gamer’s Gen 10 review for the model and its test details.

The Gen 11 Legion 5i’s OLED panel and keyboard give it real appeal, but the review evidence does not support a blanket verdict independent of price. Lenovo’s launch estimate, Gizmodo’s later base and RTX 5070 prices, and Tom’s Guide’s separate configuration prices tell different stories. At the high figures reported for some configurations, the buyer should demand a matching level of GPU performance, memory, and storage rather than paying for the Legion 5i name or OLED screen alone. Compare the exact SKU and current listing, then weigh the display against the reviewer-reported drawbacks in heat, noise, trackpad, and audio.
