The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5x Gen 11 is a capable Windows laptop for everyday work, with a strong battery result in one independent review and a useful range of ports. Its strengths come with trade-offs: the tested screen was not especially bright, its webcam and speakers disappointed the reviewer, and demanding video editing or gaming pushed the system toward its limits. Whether it is worth buying depends on the exact configuration and its current price.
What this review covers
The IdeaPad Slim 5x Gen 11 is a family, not one fixed specification. Lenovo describes 13-inch and 15-inch Snapdragon models. The independent performance, battery, and brightness results discussed here are from Tom’s Guide’s reviewed 15-inch unit; they should not be treated as measurements of every size or configuration. Lenovo’s US product listing, family specifications, and regional availability may describe different options.
Lenovo lists Windows 11 Home or Pro on ARM for the 15-inch platform and identifies it as a Copilot+ PC. That makes software compatibility worth checking if your work depends on a particular Windows application or peripheral. The supplied product information does not establish compatibility for every program.
How fast is the IdeaPad Slim 5x Gen 11?
For documents, email, spreadsheets, browsing, and multitasking, Tom’s Guide found its review unit responsive. The reviewer wrote, “It handled all of that with ease, even while multitasking and leaving a decent number of tabs open,” referring to routine productivity tasks.

Tom’s Guide reported Geekbench 6 scores of 3,299 single-core and 12,390 multi-core for its unit. Those are results from that outlet’s test, not a guarantee of performance in every workload or configuration. Its review also found that demanding video editing and heavy gaming pushed the laptop toward its limits. This is a better fit for general productivity than for sustained creative workloads or gaming.
The 15-inch platform uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-42-100, listed by Lenovo with six cores and a maximum frequency of 4.0 GHz, plus Adreno graphics and a Hexagon NPU rated up to 80 TOPS. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not by themselves establish performance in a specific application.
How long does the battery last?
Tom’s Guide recorded 15 hours and 24 minutes for its IdeaPad Slim 5x Gen 11 review unit in its battery test. That is an independent test result, not a promised runtime. The review’s table listed 15:28 for its M5 MacBook Air and 10:26 for its Asus Zenbook A16, but those results should be read as that outlet’s test figures rather than a controlled equivalence across all configurations and use.
Rank #2
Lenovo’s family materials list 54.7 Wh and 70 Wh battery options. The battery fitted to a particular laptop depends on its configuration. Lenovo says its own battery estimates use specified benchmark and video-playback methods; actual runtime varies with configuration, software, wireless use, power management, and screen brightness. Battery capacity also declines over time.
Which display and configuration should you choose?
Lenovo lists two 15.3-inch touchscreen options for the family. The independent review’s brightness result should not be mistaken for a measurement of every panel option.
| Panel option | Lenovo-listed specifications |
|---|---|
| WUXGA LCD | 1920 × 1200; 400 nits; 120 Hz; 100% sRGB; touchscreen |
| OLED | 2560 × 1600; 500 nits; 165 Hz; 100% DCI-P3; HDR True Black 500; touchscreen |
Tom’s Guide measured 385 nits on its review unit and described the colorful touchscreen as a little dim. The family datasheet lists a 400-nit LCD option and a 500-nit OLED option, but the review measurement should not be assigned to either panel without confirmation of the tested SKU. Check the listing for the actual panel rather than assuming the OLED or higher-brightness option is included.

Lenovo lists configurations up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory and 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage. The company’s US listing shows one example with the X2P-42-100 chip, 16 GB of soldered LPDDR5X, a 512 GB SSD, a 54.7 Wh battery, and a 15.3-inch 1920 × 1200 LCD touchscreen. These are separate configuration facts, not a promise that every market sells the same combination.

What ports does it have?
Lenovo’s family datasheet lists two USB-C ports supporting DisplayPort 1.4 and USB Power Delivery 3.0 at 10 Gbps, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, an audio jack, and microSD. IT Pro reports that the USB-C ports are USB 3.2 Gen 2 rather than USB4. If you rely on USB4 peripherals or a particular dock, verify the exact SKU and port capabilities before buying; USB-C connector shape alone does not establish USB4 support.
What are the main drawbacks?
Display brightness depends on the panel
The measured 385-nit result in Tom’s Guide’s review was below the 400-nit LCD and 500-nit OLED figures listed in Lenovo’s family specifications. Because the reviewed SKU’s panel is not established in the available review details, treat 385 nits as that review unit’s result, not as a universal specification. The reviewer’s description of the screen as colorful but somewhat dim is relevant if you often work in bright surroundings.

Webcam and speakers were weak points
Tom’s Guide criticized the reviewed model’s webcam and speakers. If video calls or laptop audio are central to your use, consider those findings alongside the screen and performance, rather than assuming the strong productivity result extends to every part of the experience.
It is not aimed at intensive graphics work
The review found demanding video editing and heavy gaming challenging for the laptop. The available evidence supports it as an everyday productivity machine, not as a substitute for a system chosen specifically for demanding graphics workloads.

Tom’s Guide reported a US starting price of $849 and a top-configuration price of $1,379 in its May 19, 2026 review. Those are dated review-context prices, not verified current prices. Compare the price you can actually buy at against the exact memory, storage, panel, and battery configuration; a base LCD model and an OLED configuration are not directly interchangeable.

The 15-inch model is worth considering if you want a Windows laptop for everyday work, value a touchscreen and broad selection of ports, and find the exact configuration at a competitive current price. Look elsewhere or weigh it carefully if you need USB4, a particularly bright display, strong built-in webcam and speaker quality, or substantial gaming and video-editing capability.
How to compare it with alternatives
Tom’s Guide’s review compares selected results with an M5 MacBook Air and an Asus Zenbook A16, but its published numbers are not a controlled comparison of identical configurations. Use comparisons as a starting point, then check:
