There is no reliable family-wide winner. Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i and Acer Aspire 3 each cover multiple generations and configurations, so compare the exact model numbers sold in your country. Choose the one that best fits your workload and budget after checking its processor, memory, display, storage, battery evidence, warranty, and current price.
Why the model number matters more than the family name
“IdeaPad Slim 3i” and “Aspire 3” are product-family names, not fixed specification sheets. A processor, screen, or price attached to one model cannot safely be applied to every laptop in that family. Lenovo also notes that specifications may vary by region and model; its specification reference says details can change and advises checking local availability.

For example, Lenovo’s US page for the IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 9 15-inch lists an Intel Core 3 100U and 8GB DDR5 memory (Lenovo US product page). A separate Lenovo PSREF entry for the IdeaPad Slim 3i 15 Gen 10 / 15IRH10 lists an Intel Core i5-13420H and an announce date of March 17, 2025 (Lenovo PSREF). These examples show why the generation and full model number matter; they do not establish how every Slim 3i compares with every Aspire 3.

A315-24P-R7VH: non-touch example
Acer’s US specification page for the Aspire 3 A315-24P-R7VH lists an AMD Ryzen 3 7320U, a 15.6-inch 1920 × 1080 IPS display, 8GB LPDDR5 memory, and a 128GB SSD (Acer specifications). Those specifications apply to this SKU only.
#1 Best Overall
- CPU: 12th Gen Intel Processor N100 0.8 GHz (4 Cores, 4 Threads, 6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz).
- Screen: 15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080), Non-Touch; 88% AAR on the IdeaPad Slim 3i’s FHD LCD display, which comes with a taller 16:10 aspect ratio on the 16’’.
- RAM & Storage: 4GB DDR5 Memory; 128GB SSD Storage
- Ports: 1 x HDMI 1.4, 1 x Power in, 2 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, 1x Headphone/mic combo, 1x SD card reader
Acer lists up to 13.50 hours of maximum battery runtime for this model and separately describes up to 11 hours based on MobileMark 2018 testing. Both are Acer-published claims tied to this SKU and its stated test context; neither is a direct, comparable battery test against a specific Slim 3i.
A315-24PT-R8W1: touchscreen example
Acer’s US store page lists the Aspire 3 A315-24PT-R8W1 with a Ryzen 3 7320U, a 15.6-inch FHD touchscreen, 8GB LPDDR5, and a 128GB SSD. The listing showed $449.99 and out of stock when captured; that is a time-sensitive status for this SKU, not a current price or availability claim for the Aspire 3 family (Acer US store listing).
How to choose between the two laptops
- Match full SKUs and market. Write down each laptop’s complete model or SKU, country, and retailer. Do not compare a broad family name against an individual listing.
- Check processor and memory against your work. Use the actual CPU and memory configuration, not the brand or family label. For browsing, documents, and video calls, consider whether the memory and storage will suit your needs over the time you expect to keep the laptop. The cited configurations do not establish a general performance ranking.
- Inspect the exact display. Compare resolution, panel type, brightness, touchscreen status, screen size, and refresh rate. Acer’s documented A315-24P-R7VH is FHD IPS, while the A315-24PT-R8W1 listing is a touchscreen variant. Confirm the panel details for the particular Lenovo SKU rather than assuming they apply across the Slim 3i range.
- Confirm storage and ports. Compare SSD capacity and check that each model has the ports you need. The cited Aspire 3 example has a 128GB SSD; other Aspire 3 configurations may differ.
- Look for comparable battery evidence. Prefer independent results for the exact models you are considering. A result for a different generation or an Aspire 3 Spin convertible does not establish battery life for these configurations. Manufacturer runtime figures depend on the stated test method.
- Compare the complete purchase terms. Check current price, stock, warranty, and return policy for both exact models in the same market. A listing’s captured price or stock status can change and should not be treated as a live comparison.
What independent comparisons can—and cannot—tell you
RTINGS’ 2023 comparison result identifies one tested IdeaPad Slim 3i 15 as model 82X70005US, with an Intel Core i3-1315U, 8GB RAM, and a 256GB SSD. That is evidence about the identified test unit, not proof that it is the Slim 3i in a current retailer listing. A separate RTINGS result compares the Slim 3i with an Aspire 3 Spin 14, a distinct convertible form factor (RTINGS comparison results). Neither result supports a blanket verdict for every laptop carrying either family name.
Verdict: buy the better exact configuration
Choose the IdeaPad Slim 3i or Aspire 3 only after identifying the exact model numbers available to you. Compare their actual processor, memory, screen, storage, battery evidence, warranty, and purchase terms, then pick the configuration that better suits your workload at its current local price. Without those details, naming one family as the better budget laptop would be misleading.
