The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i 15 (2026) Gen 11 is a practical productivity laptop for school and office work, provided you buy it at a suitable price. In Tom’s Guide’s review of the tested 16GB/512GB configuration, its standout features were a bright 15.3-inch 120Hz touchscreen, responsive everyday performance and a 10-hour-plus web-browsing battery result. Its plastic body, unlit keyboard and round-tip charger are notable compromises. Tom’s Guide’s favorable value judgment applied to a sale price near $799—not necessarily the review’s reported $1,299 list price.

Which IdeaPad Slim 3i does this review cover?

IdeaPad Slim 3i is a product-family name, not one fixed set of specifications. This review focuses on the 15-inch Gen 11 model identified by Tom’s Guide as 15IPH11, tested with an Intel Core 7 350 processor, 16GB of memory, a 512GB SSD and a touchscreen. Tom’s Guide published its review on August 4, 2026. Its US prices—$1,299 list and discounts around $799–$999—are publication-date context, not a guarantee of today’s price. Check the current listing and confirm its generation, screen size and configuration before buying.

Lenovo’s separate Gen 10 documentation covers 14-, 15- and 16-inch Intel models with different component and display options. Those Gen 10 specifications should not be treated as specifications for the reviewed Gen 11 laptop. Lenovo’s Gen 10 datasheet and its US Gen 10 product page are useful for identifying that generation, not for confirming the reviewed laptop’s features.

What are the reviewed Gen 11 configuration’s specifications?

Component Tom’s Guide’s tested configuration
Processor and graphics Intel Core 7 350; integrated Intel Graphics
Display 15.3-inch, 1920 × 1200 IPS touchscreen with anti-glare finish and 120Hz refresh rate
Memory and storage 16GB memory; 512GB M.2 2242 PCIe 4.0 ×4 NVMe SSD
Listed ports Two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, HDMI, 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack, SD card reader and round-tip power connector
Starting weight 3.51 lb, as reported by Tom’s Guide

Do not assume that another Slim 3i has the same screen, ports, memory, wireless standard or upgrade options. Lenovo’s Gen 10 sheet, for example, lists multiple processor and display choices across its sizes, including a 16-inch 2.8K OLED 120Hz option. It also describes USB-C with DisplayPort 1.2 and Power Delivery 3.0, HDMI 1.4, Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 options, and a second M.2 2242 SSD slot for listed capacities. These are Gen 10 family details, not confirmed features of the reviewed Gen 11 configuration. Check the exact SKU documentation for a particular purchase.

How well does it perform for work and school?

Tom’s Guide found the reviewed configuration responsive in ordinary multitasking, including a workload with around 20 browser tabs distributed across Edge and Chrome. Its benchmark results provide a more specific snapshot of that configuration; they are publisher-reported tests, not guarantees of performance in every app or laptop with the Slim 3i name.

Test or measurement Tom’s Guide result for the tested Gen 11
Geekbench 6 single-core 2,669
Geekbench 6 multi-core 7,827
HandBrake video encoding 9 minutes, 22 seconds
Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1080p 30 fps

These figures point to a machine aimed at everyday productivity, rather than demanding video editing or gaming. The 30 fps game result should not be read as evidence that it is a gaming laptop; graphics are integrated, and Tom’s Guide explicitly says the system is not aimed at demanding gaming or video-editing workloads.

What are the screen and battery like?

The large 16:10 touchscreen is the strongest feature in the review: it offers more vertical workspace than a 16:9 screen and supports 120Hz touch interaction. Tom’s Guide measured 408 nits of brightness, 116% sRGB coverage and 82.2% DCI-P3 volume on its tested unit. Those are measurements of that review sample, not a promise that every Slim 3i panel will match.

In Tom’s Guide’s web-browsing battery test, the configuration lasted 10 hours, 33 minutes and 51 seconds. The reviewer called this a decent result for the tested laptop. Treat it as a lab result under that publisher’s test conditions, not a predicted runtime for every user: brightness, wireless use, software, power settings and configuration affect battery life. Lenovo makes the same general qualification in its Gen 10 specifications.

What are the main drawbacks?

  • Plastic chassis: Tom’s Guide identifies the plastic body as a trade-off, particularly at the reported full list price.
  • No keyboard backlighting: The reviewer found the keyboard pleasant to type on, but noted that the lack of backlighting makes dim-room typing inconvenient.
  • Round-tip power connector: The tested laptop has a separate round-tip charging connection. That can be less convenient than USB-C charging when the USB-C port is occupied; verify charging support for the exact SKU rather than assuming another generation’s port capabilities apply.

Is the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i worth buying?

For a student or office worker who needs a roomy screen, responsive browser-and-document work and a useful battery result, the reviewed Gen 11 configuration looks like a sensible no-frills option. Its value depends strongly on the price: Tom’s Guide’s reviewer Arif Bacchus wrote on August 4, 2026, “For $799, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i 15 (2026) offers a bright 15-inch touchscreen and solid battery life for work or school.” That is a dated assessment of the reviewed model at that sale price. At the review’s reported $1,299 list price, the plastic construction, unlit keyboard and charging trade-off make the case less compelling.

Before comparing it with another laptop, match the actual purchase price and region, processor and memory, display size and resolution, battery-test conditions, weight, ports, charging method and keyboard. A broad “Slim 3i versus” winner claim is not meaningful when generations and configurations differ.
