TechRadar reported a price of £663.20 after code RED20, rounded to £664 in its headline, against a stated previous price of £829. What is the Argos Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 deal?
The offer concerns the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 16IPH11, UK part number 83US004BUK. The listed configuration has a 16-inch display, an Intel Core Ultra 5 322 processor, 16GB DDR5 memory and a 512GB SSD. Argos’s product listing corroborates the product identity and core specifications, but not the promotional terms in TechRadar’s report. Before checkout, confirm the current price, whether RED20 still applies to this exact SKU, stock, delivery or collection options, and any stated offer expiry on the Argos listing. A reported deal price is not a guarantee of the price available now.

Is it a good work-from-home laptop?
Good fit for everyday work
TechRadar’s deal author recommends this configuration for remote workers and students doing routine tasks such as office applications, browsing with several tabs, email, word processing and streaming. The 16GB memory and 512GB SSD make it a more substantial everyday-work configuration than an entry-level laptop with less memory or storage, but suitability still depends on your apps and workload.

When to look elsewhere
The deal author does not position it as a machine for demanding creative work or gaming. If your work regularly involves 3D rendering, intensive video editing, gaming, or unusually heavy concurrent workloads, compare laptops designed for those jobs rather than treating this as a performance workstation.
The warning in the original headline about 8GB is editorial advice, not proof that every 8GB laptop is inadequate for every job. There is no cited comparative study here establishing a universal 8GB-versus-16GB rule. Choose memory based on what you run now and expect to run, and check the exact model’s upgrade options rather than assuming its RAM can be expanded.

What do the reviews establish—and what do they not?
The linked four-star TechRadar review by James Holland, published February 12, 2025, tested the IdeaPad Slim 3 15IRU9—not the newer 16IPH11 listed by Argos. Holland praised its day-to-day performance, portability for its size and appearance, while noting a plastic build, short battery life for its form factor and weak audio. Those observations apply to the 15IRU9 review unit; they are not measured results for the 16IPH11 sale configuration.

Lenovo’s PSREF platform specifications confirms that 16IPH11 configurations include the Core Ultra 5 322 and 512GB SSD. It also shows why SKU-level checks matter: its example machine type 83US0003TA has 8GB soldered plus an 8GB SODIMM, while maximum supported memory and display details vary by configuration. That example is not the Argos UK part number, so do not assume its memory layout or screen details describe 83US004BUK. Check the retailer’s detailed listing or the matching Lenovo specification before relying on those particulars.

What to check before you buy
- Price and code: Confirm the checkout total for 83US004BUK and whether RED20 is accepted. The reported £663.20 price and £829 comparison price come from TechRadar’s 2026 deal article; they do not establish today’s Argos price or a live promotion.
- Availability and fulfilment: Check local stock, delivery or collection choices, and the offer end date directly with Argos.
- Exact configuration: Match the product to 16IPH11 / 83US004BUK. Verify the display resolution and panel, weight, ports, battery information and warranty from the listing or Lenovo’s SKU-specific documentation; those details are not established by the cited deal summary.
- Memory needs: Confirm whether the RAM can be upgraded on this exact SKU if you expect to need more later. Do not infer upgradeability from another 16IPH11 machine type.
- Workload: If your job depends on graphics-heavy applications, sustained editing or gaming, compare relevant performance and graphics specifications instead of relying on a general-purpose recommendation.
