At Lenovo Innovation World 2024 in Berlin on 5 September, Lenovo announced two Aura Edition laptops: the business-focused ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition and the consumer-facing Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition (15-inch, Gen 9). Lenovo positioned Aura Edition as a multi-year collaboration with Intel, pairing each laptop with Smart Modes, Smart Share and Smart Care. These are 2024 announcements, not a current launch or a guarantee that every feature is available on every configuration.
What Lenovo meant by Aura Edition
Lenovo described Aura Edition as a collaboration with Intel that combines laptop hardware with Lenovo software and support features. The common branded features announced for the ThinkPad and Yoga were Smart Modes, Smart Share and Smart Care. Their descriptions are Lenovo’s, not independent verification of performance or service quality.
Smart Modes
Smart Modes group setting changes for activities such as focus, collaboration, wellness and privacy. Lenovo’s business and consumer announcements describe the modes somewhat differently, so the names and behavior should not be assumed identical across both models.

The announcement covered two distinct product lines: a portable business ThinkPad and a larger consumer Yoga. How the ThinkPad and Yoga differ
Choose by role and portability
The ThinkPad was announced for business use, with a sub-1 kg starting weight, optional 5G and a port selection that includes USB-A, Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI. The Yoga was positioned for consumer work and creative use, with a larger 15.3-inch display. Lenovo’s launch details do not provide an independent performance comparison, so they do not support a claim that one is faster or better overall.

Compare the exact screen and configuration
The ThinkPad’s 2.8K OLED panel was optional; the Yoga’s published specification table listed a 2.8K 120 Hz display. Memory, storage, panel, wireless options and processor can depend on the exact configuration. For a purchase decision, compare the model code and local specification rather than relying on the family name alone.

Read battery-life claims as manufacturer claims
The ThinkPad was announced with a 57 Wh battery. Lenovo’s release claimed more than 18 hours, while Microsoft’s IFA coverage described up to 18 hours. Neither figure is an independent side-by-side test result, and the announcement does not establish equivalent test conditions. The Yoga was listed with a 70 Wh battery, but the cited announcement does not provide a comparable runtime figure.
Copilot+ PC is separate from Aura Edition
Lenovo presented the Yoga as an Intel Evo Edition Copilot+ PC, and Lenovo and Microsoft discussed Copilot+ experiences in connection with these systems. Copilot+ branding refers to Microsoft’s category and experiences; it is distinct from Lenovo’s Aura software features and from the laptop’s underlying hardware. Microsoft said Copilot+ experiences vary by device and region, and some devices would need free software updates. The 2024 announcement therefore does not guarantee immediate access to every Copilot+ feature on every Aura Edition configuration.

What the 2024 announcement does—and does not—establish
Lenovo said more than 10,000 users worldwide participated in qualitative and quantitative user-experience work, with another 4,000 helping prioritize and refine experiences. Those are figures Lenovo reported in its 5 September 2024 business announcement, not independent measurements of product quality. Lenovo also forecast that 60% of PCs shipped by 2027 would be AI-capable; this was a company forecast, not a verified outcome.

Lenovo’s consumer release said the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition was expected to become available starting September 2024 at a starting price of €1,399. That was a European launch expectation, not a current price or availability guarantee. Current local stock, pricing and configurations are not established by that historical announcement.

How to check a model before buying
- Find the exact model code on the local Lenovo product page or retailer listing; do not infer specifications from the Aura Edition name alone.
- Compare the listed processor, display panel, memory, storage and wireless options with the configuration you need.
- Check the port layout and, for the ThinkPad, whether the specific configuration includes optional 5G.
- Confirm local price, stock, warranty and support plan directly with Lenovo or the seller. Lenovo’s US product page, for example, identifies ThinkPad configuration 21NS0013US with an Intel Core Ultra 5 226V; that detail applies to that product code, not every market or SKU.
- Check Microsoft’s current Copilot+ information for device- and region-specific feature availability and any required software updates.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
