LEGO’s Captain America Toy Fair 2012 Exclusive (catalog number sh0028) and Iron Man – Model 37 Armor Toy Fair 2012 Exclusive (sh0027) were promotional figures associated with the launch of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. A ComicBook.com report dated October 2, 2026 said the pair was listed at Heritage Auctions for $1,000, but that report does not establish that the listing is still live or that the figures sold for that amount.
What are the two Toy Fair minifigures?
They are promotional LEGO Marvel minifigures identified in BrickLink’s catalog as Captain America Toy Fair 2012 Exclusive, sh0028, and Iron Man – Model 37 Armor Toy Fair 2012 Exclusive, sh0027. Brick Fanatics described the pair as Toy Fair exclusives used to promote the then-new LEGO Marvel theme. They were associated with the line’s launch, not the sole launch of the entire theme.
How did they fit into LEGO’s Marvel launch?
On July 20, 2011, The LEGO Group announced a multi-year licensing relationship with Marvel. Its announcement scheduled the first LEGO Super Heroes Marvel sets, minifigures, and buildable characters for May 2012, alongside the planned summer release of Marvel’s The Avengers. The announced Avengers movie line-up included Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Loki, and Black Widow. The announcement establishes the launch timeline and characters, but does not give a production quantity for the Toy Fair pair. The LEGO Group’s July 20, 2011 announcement quoted licensing and entertainment vice president Jill Wilfert: “Our partnership with Marvel helps us continue to deliver some of the best and most constructible Super Hero stories of all time.”

What distinguishes the promo figures from later versions?
ComicBook.com’s October 2, 2026 account notes visible design differences from later versions: the Toy Fair Iron Man has a printed helmet, while the later version uses a molded helmet; Captain America’s shield and facial expression also differ. Brick Fanatics describes the promo heads as classic printed heads and the figures as having a prototype-like aesthetic. These are useful clues for comparing versions, not proof of authenticity on their own.

How rare are they?
ComicBook.com reported that 125 of each figure were made. Brick Fanatics’ July 30, 2024 article attributed that number to Minifigure Price Guide and Atlanta Brick Co. It is a reported count, not a production figure confirmed in The LEGO Group’s 2011 announcement.

ComicBook.com reported on October 2, 2026 that the pair was listed at Heritage Auctions for $1,000. The auction page could not be verified, so this is a reported listing amount—not a confirmed completed-sale price, a verified current offer, or a market-wide valuation. The same article described eBay single-figure asking prices of $800–$900; those are also reported asks, not verified sale prices or a representative price benchmark.

If you search for the figures, use their exact catalog names and numbers: “LEGO Captain America Toy Fair 2012 sh0028” and “LEGO Iron Man Model 37 Armor Toy Fair 2012 sh0027.” Before buying, compare:
- Variant: Check the figure’s design against the catalog identity and the reported printed-helmet, shield, and facial-expression differences.
- Condition and completeness: Ask for clear photos of the figure and all included parts, and clarify wear or damage.
- Provenance: Request seller documentation and details about any original Toy Fair card backing or packaging. Neither appearance nor packaging alone is an established authentication method.
- Price and listing status: Verify the live listing and recent transaction details directly; the reported figures above do not establish current value or availability.
These are highly specific collectibles, so a general search for LEGO Marvel Captain America and Iron Man minifigures may return later releases rather than the Toy Fair exclusives.
