The LEGO Super Star Destroyer reviewed here is set 10221, the retired 3,152-piece model—not the newer Executor sets that share similar names. Its defining appeal is scale: LEGO’s promotional description gives it a length of 124.5 cm and an approximate weight of 3.5 kg. That makes it a striking display centerpiece, but a substantial space commitment. Whether it is worth buying now depends on the condition and completeness of the particular second-hand copy; current resale prices and stock are not established here.
What is LEGO set 10221?
Set 10221 is LEGO’s legacy UCS Super Star Destroyer, released in 2011. LEGO’s official building-instructions page identifies it as a 3,152-piece set. The name can cause confusion because LEGO also sells smaller or newer Executor models, so check the set number before comparing specifications or shopping for parts.
LEGO’s promotional video description for 10221, published in 2012, gives the model’s length as nearly 50 inches (124.5 cm) and its weight as nearly 8 pounds (approximately 3.5 kg). It also describes a display stand, a data-sheet label and a removable center section that reveals the command center. Those are historical manufacturer-published details, not confirmation that every second-hand listing still includes all display materials or parts.

What is it like as a display model?
Scale and shelf space
At 124.5 cm long according to LEGO’s 2012 promotional description, 10221 is a large display piece. Before buying, measure the intended shelf or cabinet and account for the stand as well as the ship; the published length is not a guarantee of the assembled footprint in every display arrangement. Its approximate 3.5 kg weight also makes a stable, appropriately sized surface important.

Display features
The removable center section and visible command center give the model an interior detail to reveal, rather than making it solely an exterior silhouette. LEGO’s description also mentions a stand and data-sheet label, features that support a presentation-focused build. Verify the label, stand components and ship parts against the set inventory when assessing a used copy.
How does 10221 compare with newer Executor sets?
These sets serve different display and building needs. The table separates specifications from subjective design commentary; dimensions and piece counts for 75457 are from LEGO’s 2026 product page, while the description of its shape is a reviewer’s assessment.

- Showcase your Imperial creativity with this highly detailed LEGO Star Wars replica of Darth Vader’s Executor Super Star Destroyer (75356) from the classic Star Wars trilogy
| Set | Format and pieces | Published dimensions | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10221 Super Star Destroyer | Legacy UCS-scale model; 3,152 pieces (LEGO official building-instructions page; year not stated there) | 124.5 cm long and approximately 3.5 kg (LEGO promotional description, 2012); width and height not stated in that source | Large older model with a stand, data-sheet label and removable center section described by LEGO. Confirm contents for an individual used set. |
| 75457 Executor | Newer Executor model; 6,130 pieces (LEGO product page, 2026) | 136 cm long, 50 cm wide and 20 cm high (LEGO product page, 2026) | A September 28, 2026 review characterizes it as flatter and wider than the earlier UCS version and the midi-scale Executor; that is the reviewer’s design judgment. |
| 75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer | 630-piece build-and-display model for adult Star Wars fans or experienced builders (LEGO official product page; year not stated there) | Not stated on the cited LEGO page | A smaller-format display option, not a direct substitute for the scale of 10221. |
For sheer dimensions, 75457 is longer than 10221 based on the published lengths, but the 10221 source does not supply width or height for a full footprint comparison. Piece count alone does not establish which set is more accurate or enjoyable to build. Choose by the space available, the scale you want, and whether you prefer a legacy set or a newer format.

It can make sense for a collector who wants the legacy large-scale model and has room to display it. The scale and removable command-center section are the strongest supported reasons to consider it. It is less suitable if you want a compact build-and-display piece or do not have a secure place for a model more than a metre long.

Because 10221 is retired, value is listing-specific. No current second-hand price or availability is established here, so compare active listings rather than relying on an old retail price or an assumed market value.
What to check before buying a used 10221
- Set identity: Confirm the listing is for LEGO set 10221, not 75356, 75457 or another similarly named Executor model.
- Completeness: Ask whether the seller has checked the parts against the inventory, and request details about any missing pieces. Confirm the stand and data-sheet label are included if they matter to you.
- Instructions and box: Clarify whether paper instructions and the original box are included and assess their condition separately from the bricks.
- Condition: Request clear photos of the assembled model or sorted parts, especially any areas relevant to damage, discoloration or repairs.
- Seller terms: Read the return policy, shipping arrangement and any stated limitations before committing, particularly for a large, heavy model.
Verdict
LEGO 10221 is best understood as a retired, room-dominating display build: 3,152 pieces and a LEGO-published length of 124.5 cm. Its scale and command-center feature distinguish it from the 630-piece 75356 and the newer 6,130-piece 75457. It is worth pursuing when that specific legacy format is what you want and the listing’s completeness, condition and price work for you; otherwise, a newer, smaller-format option may be easier to accommodate.
