Choose Rivendell for a broad, deep display
At approximately 72 cm wide and 50 cm deep, Rivendell needs substantial horizontal space. Its 39 cm height is lower than Minas Tirith’s, but the footprint is wider and deeper. Measure the surface you plan to use, allowing room for the model’s full depth as well as the width.
Choose Minas Tirith for more height and less depth
Minas Tirith is approximately 59 cm tall, 62 cm wide and 37 cm deep. It is the taller model, while its stated width and depth are smaller than Rivendell’s. Check vertical clearance on a shelf and the support surface’s width and depth before buying.

Rivendell centers on Elves and the Fellowship
Rivendell recreates an Elven valley with a tower, Council ring, gazebo, river and bridge. LEGO identifies the Council of Elrond and the Fellowship as key scenes, making this the more natural pick if those moments and characters are the main draw.

Pick it if the architecture and its interior scenes matter more to you than Rivendell’s landscape and council setting.
How do the pieces and characters compare?
Minas Tirith has 8,278 pieces, compared with Rivendell’s 6,167—a difference of 2,111 pieces. Rivendell includes 15 minifigures; Minas Tirith includes 10 minifigures plus a Shadowfax horse figure. Piece count alone does not establish build time, difficulty or value, and the character counts are not directly interchangeable because Shadowfax is listed separately as a figure.

What do the sets cost?
LEGO’s US Rivendell page showed $499.99 when accessed in 2026. LEGO’s Minas Tirith announcement dated 12 May 2026 listed a US suggested retail price of $649.99, as well as £579.99 in the UK and €649.99 in Europe. LEGO’s Rivendell pages surfaced at £429.99 in the UK and €499.99 in the Netherlands. These are market-specific official prices, not guarantees of current retailer pricing or stock. - Measure your display area. Compare the stated width, depth and height with the surface and clearance available at home.
- Choose the setting you most want to revisit. Rivendell focuses on the Elven valley, Council of Elrond and Fellowship; Minas Tirith focuses on Gondor’s White City and its citadel and throne-room interiors.
- Compare the current local price. The official US prices cited above differ by $150, but local currency, retailer pricing and availability may change the practical difference.
- Decide which included characters matter to you. Rivendell has more minifigures; Minas Tirith’s listing also includes Shadowfax as a horse figure.
Verdict
Rivendell is the better fit if the Fellowship, Council of Elrond and Elven setting are your priorities and you have room for a wide, deep model. Minas Tirith is the better fit if you want the taller White City, a larger piece count and citadel or throne-room scenes, and are comfortable with its higher US suggested retail price.
