The LEGO PlayStation set (72306) is a 1,911-piece adult display model that recreates the original PlayStation console and its controller. LEGO describes it as near 1:1 scale and lists the assembled model at over 6 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 19 cm deep. It adds tactile Open and Power buttons plus two hidden, game-inspired mini-scenes; it is not an electronic console and does not play games.
How big is the LEGO PlayStation compared with the original?
LEGO lists the assembled model at over 2.5 inches (6 cm) high, 10.5 inches (26 cm) wide, and 7.5 inches (19 cm) deep. PlayStation also calls the replica near 1:1 scale and gives its width as 10.5 inches (26 cm). These are manufacturer specifications for the brick model and its scale description, not independent confirmation that every dimension matches original hardware.
Sony identifies the original PlayStation as model SCPH-1000 and dates it to 1994, but the cited corporate history does not give its physical dimensions. A precise side-by-side dimensional comparison with an original unit therefore cannot be established from these figures. The LEGO set’s listed dimensions are available in LEGO’s announcement; PlayStation’s near-1:1 description and width appear in its announcement.

- An Ape Escape-inspired scene featuring a recognizable red or blue monkey helmet.
The two small scenes can be tucked inside the console or removed and displayed beside it. What is different from the real PlayStation?
The LEGO model reproduces the console’s grey silhouette and controller as a construction build. Its buttons and opening feature provide physical interaction, but “functional” refers to the model’s tactile parts—not electronics. The official descriptions do not present a working disc drive, powered console, playable games, or an original PlayStation included in the box.
The real PlayStation is electronic hardware: Sony’s corporate history identifies the original system as SCPH-1000, released in 1994. The LEGO set is instead a buildable display replica with small game-inspired dioramas. Sony’s historical identification is in its corporate history report.
