Choose Switch 2 if playing handheld matters most; choose PS5 or Xbox Series X if you prioritize the higher frame-rate ceiling and visual detail reported by a recent review. That review found the Switch 2 version running at 30 fps with dynamic resolution up to 1080p docked and 720p handheld, while saying PS5 and Xbox Series X can reach 60 fps. Those are the reviewer’s findings, not a controlled, same-scene comparison; Xbox Series S performance has not been established. All three platform families are listed as available by WB Games Support as of October 4, 2026.
How the versions compare
The main trade-off is portability versus the performance and visual headroom reported for home consoles. Switch 2 can move between handheld and docked play; PS5 and Xbox Series X are the stronger evidence-backed choices if you want a higher reported frame rate. The available performance findings do not establish a single winner for every player or every console in the Xbox Series family.
| Platform | Availability | Performance and visuals reported | Practical fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Switch 2 | Released September 18, 2026, according to Warner Bros. Games. Source | MeriStation reports 30 fps and dynamic resolution up to 1080p docked or 720p handheld, with occasional instability in busy scenes. It also notes reduced detail versus home consoles, including distant textures, pop-in, lighting, and water. These are that outlet’s review findings, current to October 4, 2026. MeriStation review | Best fit if handheld play is worth the reported technical compromises. |
| PS5 | Listed as available by WB Games Support. WB Games Support | The same MeriStation review says PS5 can reach 60 fps. It does not provide an equivalent mode-by-mode test or establish a locked 60 fps in every scene. MeriStation review | Consider it for home-console play and the reported higher frame-rate ceiling. |
| Xbox Series X | Listed as available by WB Games Support. WB Games Support | The review says Series X can reach 60 fps, but does not establish that rate in every scene or give a comparable mode-by-mode test. MeriStation review | Consider it for home-console play and the reported higher frame-rate ceiling. |
| Xbox Series S | Xbox Series X|S is listed by WB Games Support. WB Games Support | Not stated in the cited performance review; do not assume Series X findings apply to Series S. | Check a Series S-specific performance report if frame rate or resolution will decide your purchase. |
The Switch 2 resolution figures are dynamic-resolution maxima reported by MeriStation, not guarantees that the game holds those resolutions at all times. Its account also describes occasional instability in busy scenes. No controlled cross-platform test establishes how identical scenes behave across each system.
Which platform should you buy?
Choose Switch 2 for handheld flexibility
If you want to play away from a TV and still have the option to dock the system, Switch 2 is the clear fit. The trade-off in the cited review is a 30 fps presentation, dynamic resolution, and lower visual detail than the home-console versions it discusses.

Choose PS5 or Xbox Series X for the reported performance headroom
If you mostly play on a television and prefer smoother motion or more visual detail, PS5 and Series X are the better-supported choices in the available comparison: the review says both can reach 60 fps and reports visual compromises on Switch 2. “Can reach” does not mean a guaranteed, locked 60 fps, and the cited material does not provide precise resolution figures for either console.
Make a separate check for Xbox Series S
Although WB Games lists Xbox Series X|S as available, the performance evidence cited here measures neither Series S frame rate nor resolution. If you own a Series S, seek a report specifically for that model rather than treating Series X results as representative.

Local co-op, online play, and requirements
The game supports solo play and two-player local co-op, but not online co-op. WB Games Support says a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online, PlayStation Plus, or Game Pass Core is not required to play. An internet connection is not required apart from downloading updates. WB Games Support
If you plan to play together, make the choice based on where you will play locally and which system you both use. The published co-op details describe local play, not internet-based multiplayer.

What the game is—and what optional LEGO sets add
Legacy of the Dark Knight is an open-world action adventure about Bruce Wayne’s journey to becoming Batman, mixing LEGO humor with references to Batman stories across media. The publisher’s description frames it as an original story drawing on decades of films, television, comics, and games. The core game is the relevant purchase; LEGO DC Batman sets associated with unlockable in-game content are optional tie-ins, not prerequisites. Warner Bros. Games announcement · LEGO DC
Exact PS5 and Series X resolution figures, console graphics modes, loading times, patch parity, and Series S performance are not established by the cited comparison. Treat cross-platform performance claims as the reviewer’s observations, not the result of a controlled test.
