LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 18, 2026. It is a story-led, open-world Batman action-adventure with solo play and two-player local co-op, but no online co-op. Official listings describe its contents and storage requirements; they do not establish how well it performs on Switch 2, so a performance verdict would require hands-on testing.
What kind of Batman game is it?
Developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Games, the game follows Bruce Wayne from his origins and training with the League of Shadows to becoming Gotham’s hero and gathering allies. DC describes it as a story-led, open-world action-adventure drawing on Batman films, television, comics, and games. Its named characters include Jim Gordon, Catwoman, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Talia al Ghul, alongside villains such as Joker, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Bane, and Ra’s al Ghul.
The publisher describes a Gotham City filled with crimes, challenges, puzzles, secrets, landmarks, and rewards. Locations named in official materials include Ace Chemicals, Gotham Botanical Gardens, Wayne Tower, and Arkham Asylum. These are descriptions of the advertised scope, not a measure of how engaging or varied the activities are in play.
What does the game include?
Combat, gadgets, and difficulty
Official descriptions list combos, stealth, takedowns, and gadgets. Examples include Batarangs and the Batclaw, as well as character-specific equipment such as Gordon’s Foam Sprayer, Robin’s Cable Launcher, and Catwoman’s whip. DC also identifies a Dark Knight difficulty setting for players seeking a tougher challenge, without detailing its exact tuning.

Can you play co-op or offline?
Warner Bros. Games says the game supports solo play and two-player local co-op only; online co-op is unavailable. Nintendo Australia’s listing specifies local play for one to two players. The official FAQ says an internet connection is not required to play, though you will need one to download updates. It also says a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is not required to play. Nintendo Australia notes that Save Data Cloud use does require Nintendo Switch Online, which is a separate optional service.

Nintendo Australia lists TV, tabletop, and handheld play. The official Nintendo listings do not provide resolution, frame-rate, loading-time, battery-use, or comparative-performance measurements, so those details cannot support a Switch 2 performance judgment.
Is the Switch 2 version worth buying?
The official feature list makes the game a clear fit to investigate if you want a Batman story with Gotham exploration, gadgets, vehicles, collectibles, and local co-op. The key buying decisions are whether you want the base campaign or the Deluxe DLC, whether you need online co-op (which is not offered), and whether your regional store price and storage requirement work for you.
Best Value
- LEGO Movie 2 Video Game
- LEGO
- Nintendo Switch LEGO Movie Game
Those facts do not establish whether combat feels satisfying, exploration stays interesting, or the Switch 2 version runs smoothly. Without hands-on testing or independent performance measurements, it would be misleading to give a quality-based recommendation or claim that this edition matches other platforms.
