League of Legends Patch 26.19 brings Fiora’s former ultimate, Blade Waltz, back in the game’s Classic content, with changes to its damage, timing, targeting and cooldown. The spell has been called poorly designed because its original untargetable, repeated-strike sequence could leave opponents with little room to respond. That is a design criticism, not an official Riot ranking.
What is Blade Waltz?
Blade Waltz was Fiora’s former ultimate, her R. Riot lists it by name in the Classic section of its Patch 26.19 notes, published September 22, 2026. Those notes confirm the spell’s inclusion and document its updated parameters.
The announcement establishes the Classic content in Patch 26.19; it does not establish region-by-region availability or whether the mode remains unchanged in later patches.
What changed in Patch 26.19?
Riot’s notes document the following changes to Blade Waltz:

| Detail | Before | Patch 26.19 |
|---|---|---|
| Damage per hit | 160 / 330 / 500 (+115% bonus AD) | 125 / 255 / 385 (+85% bonus AD) |
| Maximum single-target damage | 320 / 660 / 1000 (+230% bonus AD) | 325 / 663 / 1001 (+221% bonus AD) |
| Cooldown | 130 / 120 / 110 seconds | 150 / 130 / 110 seconds |
| Maximum return range | 1500 | 2500 |
Riot also says damage begins 0.25 seconds later in the animation, and that target prioritization now tries to select enemies Fiora has not struck when possible. The notes list a bug fix as well: Fiora could be locked out of attacking or moving for two seconds if her target immediately became untargetable.
Why has Blade Waltz been criticized?
A 2023 Riftfeed retrospective describes the old Blade Waltz as making Fiora untargetable while she struck a random enemy five times. The outlet argues that this left opponents with virtually no counterplay and that repeated on-hit effects made the ability difficult to balance.

The core design tension is between the spectacle and the response window: a sequence of repeated strikes can feel decisive for Fiora, while untargetability limits what opponents can do during it. Riftfeed’s account is one outlet’s analysis; it does not demonstrate a measured player consensus, and the available sources provide no named statistics about opinion, win rate, pick rate or design impact.

What the return does—and does not—show
Patch 26.19 documents adjustments to hit timing, target selection, damage, cooldown and return range. Those changes may matter to how the spell plays, but Riot’s notes do not say they were made in response to the historical counterplay criticism. The patch values are ability parameters, not evidence of a controlled balance comparison or player-experience study.
