Yamaha Motor, Fuji Corporation, ASMPT SIPLACE and JUKI Automation Systems are documented suppliers of active SMT pick-and-place equipment. The available manufacturer information does not establish a market-share ranking, so “leading” here means notable suppliers with published machine portfolios—not a claim that one is the largest or best. The right choice depends on your component mix, required output and accuracy, changeover needs, line integration, and the support available where your factory operates.

Which manufacturers should SMT buyers consider?

These four suppliers publish active SMT placement offerings. Their product pages describe different machine families and production emphases, but they do not provide enough standardized, like-for-like data to rank the companies or declare a universal winner.

Supplier What its published portfolio emphasizes Useful starting point
Yamaha Motor Mounters within a wider SMT line-equipment portfolio, including printers, dispensers, inspection systems, hybrid placers and software. Yamaha SMT Assembly System
Fuji Corporation Machine models for varied production types, automation, high-mix production and accuracy. Fuji SMT pick and place machines
ASMPT SIPLACE Both flexible-placement and high-volume solutions. ASMPT SIPLACE Placement Solutions
JUKI Automation Systems RS-series flexibility and support for a broad component range. JUKI Placement

These are portfolio descriptions from the manufacturers, not independent performance assessments. Model availability and local service arrangements can vary by market; confirm both with the supplier or its authorized local channel.

What published specifications can—and can’t—tell you

Yamaha: published speed and accuracy figures

Yamaha’s Japanese Surface Mounter listing gives these figures for three models:

#1 Best Overall
Fully Automatic SMT Desktop Pick Place Machine, High-Speed Vision Chip Mounter Electric Feeders for PCB & LED SMD Prototyping
  • Triple Vision Camera System:Equipped with three high-speed cameras, including dual bottom cameras for fast shooting. Supports recognition of various marks (solder pads, circles, vias, screen printing) and mark-free mode, ensuring precise component alignment and placement.
  • Efficient High-Speed Performance:Adopts advanced S-curve motion control, 80% faster than similar models with max speed up to 3000 points per hour. Stable vibration and fully automatic operation greatly improve throughput for prototype and small-batch production.
  • Automatic Head Replacement & Versatile Feeders:Dual mounting heads support passive automatic head change with up to 6 nozzle libraries for one-time mounting of diverse components. Compatible with visual bulk, automatic, manual and tray feeders; Feida supports code-scanning adding for efficiency.
  • Stable Integrated Structure:Features sheet metal integrated welded body, avoiding loose aluminum profile structures. Built-in high-power suction nozzle motor with all-metal gears. Whole machine shipped ready to use, durable and compact.
  • Wide Compatibility & Desktop Design:Supports 220V dual voltage for global use. Ideal for various SMD components including LEDs. Space-saving desktop design is perfect for labs, workshops and small-scale electronics manufacturing.
Model Published placement rate Published accuracy
YRM20DL 120,000 CPH ±0.015 mm (3σ)
YRM20 115,000 CPH ±0.025 mm (3σ)
YRM10 52,000 CPH ±0.035 mm (3σ)

These are manufacturer figures, and Yamaha notes Cpk ≥ 1.0 under its optimum conditions using evaluation materials. Treat them as specifications to investigate, not as a prediction of your line’s achieved output or a direct comparison with another brand. CPH figures can depend on the stated measurement method and production assumptions; accuracy comparisons likewise require aligned test conditions and definitions. Ask each vendor for the test basis and a demonstration using representative boards and components.

JUKI: one model’s stated component range

JUKI’s Placement page states that the RS-2 places at 50,000 CPH and handles components from 03015 metric up to 74 mm square or 50 × 150 mm rectangular, with a maximum height of 25 mm. These are JUKI’s claims for that model, not specifications for every JUKI machine. Confirm that the RS-2 and these specifications are still offered and applicable in your region when requesting a quotation.

How to choose a supplier for your production line

Start with production requirements rather than a headline speed. Prepare a representative product mix and ask shortlisted suppliers to show how the proposed configuration handles it. The following criteria expose the differences that matter in a real installation:

  • SMT802A-S Automatic Low Price Pick and Place Machine Small Desktop LED Production Machine
  • Throughput and accuracy: Define required good-board output, product mix, placement accuracy and the conditions under which any quoted CPH or accuracy figure was measured. Ask for results with your representative components and boards, not just an idealized machine-cycle number.
  • Component and package mix: List the smallest and largest parts, package types, component heights, and any unusual or fragile devices. Check the machine’s supported range and the required heads, nozzles and feeders for that mix.
  • High-mix flexibility versus sustained volume: Estimate product changeovers, lot sizes and time spent changing recipes or materials. A configuration suited to frequent changes may differ from one optimized for long, repeatable runs; ask vendors to quantify changeover steps and demonstrate them.
  • Feeders and material handling: Document feeder types and quantities, reel and tray requirements, replenishment practices, traceability needs and any desired automation. Confirm what is included in the proposed configuration and what requires additional equipment.
  • Boards and footprint: Provide board dimensions, panelization, orientation and line layout constraints. Ask about machine and conveyor configuration, access for operators and maintenance, and any line balancing implications.
  • Software and integration: Map the interfaces needed with printers, inspection equipment, factory systems and existing programs. Clarify recipe creation, program conversion, data exchange, traceability and support for the installed equipment around the mounter.
  • Local service and lifecycle cost: Verify installation and training availability, response coverage, spare-parts access, maintenance requirements and expected costs over the intended service life. Regional support arrangements are not established by global product pages alone.

When an integrated SMT line matters

If you are buying more than a placement machine, evaluate the whole process: printing, dispensing where needed, placement, inspection, software and material flow. Yamaha explicitly presents mounters alongside solder-paste printers, dispensers, inspection systems, hybrid placers and software in its SMT portfolio. That is useful context for buyers considering an integrated line, but it does not by itself establish that a single-vendor line is the best fit. Compare interoperability, line balancing, service responsibility and total lifecycle cost against a multi-vendor alternative.

What to request before selecting a machine

  1. Send the same requirements to each shortlisted supplier. Include representative board files, product mix, component list, target output, changeover pattern, factory constraints and required integrations.
  2. Request a configured proposal. Ask for the exact machine model, heads, feeders, software, conveyors, options and included installation or training. Separate standard equipment from optional items.
  3. Ask for comparable performance evidence. Require the test conditions, assumptions and definitions behind throughput and accuracy claims, then arrange a demonstration or acceptance test with representative products.
  4. Confirm operational fit. Review changeover workflow, programming, feeder and material handling, maintenance access, footprint, utilities and operator training.
  5. Verify regional support and lifecycle terms. Get written details on local service, parts availability, warranty, maintenance and response expectations, and assess the total cost over your planned ownership period.

Product specifications and regional arrangements can change. The figures cited here come from official manufacturer pages captured on October 3, 2026; confirm the current model configuration and terms directly before making a capital-equipment decision.
