Lavazza’s Tablì replaces disposable capsules with pressed coffee tabs made from 100% coffee. In TechRadar’s hands-on tasting, two blends produced smooth, easy-drinking espresso—but that is one reviewer’s subjective experience, not proof that Tablì tastes better than Nespresso for everyone. The bigger buying question is whether you want a proprietary system and can get its machine and tabs in your market.
What is Lavazza Tablì?
Tablì is a single-serve espresso system built around a dedicated machine and pressed coffee tabs. Lavazza says the tabs are made from ground coffee using its tab-production technology and contain no casing. The manufacturer describes the format as a “100% pure coffee dose” on its Tablì system page; that is Lavazza’s product description, not an independent environmental assessment.
This is a proprietary format, not an open replacement for every coffee pod. Lavazza USA says its tabs work exclusively with the Tablì machine. That does not establish compatibility in either direction with other brewers: don’t assume capsules, ESE servings, loose grounds, or Tablì tabs will work in equipment they were not designed for. How the machine works and what it can make
TechRadar’s hands-on account describes three soft-touch controls for single, double, and lungo drinks. The reviewer says the upper section slides open to insert a tab; the removable drip tray can accommodate an espresso cup or a larger mug. These are the outlet’s observations, rather than items in Lavazza’s specification list. A milk frother is optional if you want milk drinks; it is not needed to brew espresso.

Lavazza lists 30 ml and 45 ml cup sizes on its product page. The page does not clarify how those figures map to the reporter’s single, double, and lungo control labels, so treat them as published preset cup sizes rather than assuming a particular volume for every button.

These specifications are from Lavazza’s Tablì machine page, accessed in 2026. It labels the used-tab container as holding “eight caps”; because that wording appears generic and does not verify a tab capacity, it is not a reliable basis for estimating how many used tabs the container holds. Check the exact regional model before buying: the listed 220–240 V supply is not a specification for 110–120 V markets.

Do the coffee tabs taste good?
TechRadar reviewer Simon Handby reports trying Qualità Rossa and Qualità Oro. He writes: “I’ve tried two Tabli varieties so far (Qualità Rossa and Qualità Oro), and both produced a smooth-tasting, easy-drinking espresso without the astringent taste I associate with most coffee tabs.” Read the TechRadar hands-on report for the full context.
That is encouraging but limited taste evidence: it is one reviewer’s account of two blends, not a blind comparison, laboratory extraction test, or broad consumer panel. It supports saying those two preparations tasted smooth to that reviewer; it does not establish that Tablì beats Nespresso or other systems across blends and palates.

Which Tablì blends are listed?
Availability depends on market and can change. Lavazza’s general tabs page lists Qualità Oro, Espresso Classico, Espresso Intenso, and Decaf. Lavazza USA’s overview describes a US launch assortment of Super Crema, Espresso, Espresso Lungo, Espresso Double, and Decaf. These are region-specific listings, not a promise that every variety is currently in stock. Check the Lavazza tabs page or the US tabs page for your market.
What happens to a used tab?
Lavazza says a tab is made of 100% coffee and can go into organic waste collection with food scraps. That is the manufacturer’s guidance, not a guarantee that every municipal collection program accepts it. Follow local waste rules; the available product information does not establish home-compostability, zero environmental impact, or a quantified lifecycle advantage over capsules.

Availability and what to check before buying
Availability signals differ by region and date. When checked in 2026, Lavazza’s global machine page showed a “not available at the moment” notice, while Lavazza UK’s machine page showed a limited-time launch offer. T3 reported a UK launch on 9 September 2026. These do not establish current stock or price in another country; check Lavazza’s global machine page and UK machine page for current local information.

TechRadar’s June 2026 US launch coverage described a bundle with the machine, milk frother, 60 tabs, and tweezers, and said shipping would begin in August. That report is launch context, not confirmation of today’s stock or bundle contents. Current price, per-serving cost, and a comparative lifecycle impact are not established by the cited product information.

- Confirm the machine’s electrical specification matches your country.
- Make sure Tablì tabs are available where you live and that you are comfortable buying a dedicated consumable.
- Check which blends are currently sold in your market rather than relying on another region’s assortment.
- Decide whether you need a separate frother for milk drinks.
How Lavazza developed the system
Lavazza Group says it developed Tablì after acquiring Italian startup Caffemotive and its tab concept in 2020. The company says the project generated more than 15 new patents; that figure is the company’s account, not an independent review of patent records. See the Lavazza Group announcement.
Who should consider Tablì?
Tablì makes the most sense for someone who wants a single-serve espresso routine using coffee-only tabs rather than cased capsules, likes the blends available locally, and accepts a dedicated machine-and-tab ecosystem. It is a less straightforward choice if you want to use supplies you already own, need confirmed compatibility with another brewer, or cannot readily buy the proprietary tabs in your region. The tasting report is promising, but whether the flavor suits you remains personal.
