Lavazza’s Tablì system replaces a conventional capsule with a compressed tab of ground coffee, but it still requires Lavazza’s dedicated Tablì machine. The available product information describes how the tabs are made and used; it does not establish how they taste, brew, or compare with other systems in an independent test. So a reliable “how it went” account needs actual brewing observations—not assumptions based on the plastic-free claim.
What Lavazza means by “plastic-free pods”
Tablì tabs are not conventional pods or capsules. Lavazza describes them as pressed ground coffee made from 100% coffee, with no capsule, coating, or individual wrapping. They are designed for insertion into the dedicated Tablì machine; the reviewed product information does not establish compatibility with K-Cup, Nespresso, or other Lavazza brewers.
That distinction matters: “plastic-free” refers to the coffee tab, not necessarily every part of the product’s packaging. In the United States, Lavazza says tabs come in paper trays sealed with plastic film to preserve freshness. Follow local recycling guidance for that packaging rather than assuming it can all be composted or recycled together.

Lavazza describes Tablì as an espresso system, but promotional descriptions cannot tell a reader what a cup actually tastes or feels like. A useful firsthand review would document the machine setup and the precise tab and button used, then report the resulting drink’s taste, crema, temperature, and consistency. It should also explain how the tab is removed and disposed of, how much cleanup the machine requires, and whether the process feels convenient in everyday use.

No independent Tablì taste or performance measurements are established in the available product sources, and this article cannot claim a firsthand brew or tasting. Lavazza’s statements about the intended experience should therefore be treated as product marketing, not verified cup results. The sources also do not provide an independent lifecycle assessment or sustainability certification specific to Tablì, so the coffee-only tab by itself is not proof of environmental superiority over another brewing system.
Which tabs and machine details vary by market?
Lavazza’s assortment differs between its Italian and US information. Do not treat one market’s blend or machine-color list as a universal lineup.

Lavazza USA specifies a particular way to brew Double Shot tabs: press the machine’s Double Shot button. With the tiltable spout lowered, it can brew two espressos into separate cups; with the spout raised, it makes a double shot into one cup. These are the manufacturer’s operating directions, not independent measurements of serving size or extraction.
How to store opened tabs and handle disposal
Lavazza USA’s storage guidance applies after opening a sleeve’s plastic film: refrigerate the tabs for up to 45 days, or keep them at room temperature for up to 14 days from opening. The company says the used coffee tab can be thrown away or composted. Whether it belongs in an organic-waste collection depends on the local service’s rules; Lavazza’s Italian FAQ says its coffee tab can go into organic-waste collection with food scraps.

Keep the used tab and its freshness packaging separate when deciding what to do with each. The US trays are paper sealed with plastic film, and Lavazza advises following local guidance for the packaging. It does not say that all packaging is compostable.

Lavazza North America’s announcement, dated June 8, 2026, said the official US launch would follow in August 2026 on LavazzaUSA.com, with Amazon availability expected to expand later in 2026. The announcement also described a preorder bundle at $99.99, with a stated value of $249.99, containing the machine, milk frother, 60-count variety collection, and tab tweezer. Those were announcement-time details, not confirmation of current stock or pricing; check Lavazza’s current listings before purchasing.

The same announcement said the product followed five years of research and development and involved more than 15 patents. Those figures are Lavazza’s claims in its 2026 announcement, not independently audited findings. The announcement also mentioned a milk frother and tab storage holder as accessories.

What to check before choosing Tablì
- Machine compatibility: Confirm you are willing to use the dedicated Tablì brewer; broad compatibility with other machines is not established.
- Local disposal options: Check whether your municipality accepts coffee grounds or tabs in its organic-waste or compost collection, and check packaging rules separately.
- Serving choices: Review the blends and Double Shot directions available in your market; the US and Italian assortments are not identical.
- Current cost and supply: Verify the live machine price, tab availability, and recurring serving cost. The cited launch announcement does not establish current retail availability or an ongoing price.
- Actual cup and cleanup: Look for firsthand observations or independent tests covering taste, temperature, crema, consistency, setup, and cleaning. The available product sources do not supply those results.
