The Lava Blaze Duo 5G is worth considering if its small rear display is a feature you will actually use and you prefer a near-stock Android experience. Its 120Hz AMOLED main screen and adequate everyday performance add appeal, but the review found meaningful compromises in camera quality, outdoor visibility, speaker sound, and charging speed. For buyers who care more about photography or quick charging than a second screen, it is a harder recommendation.
What makes the Lava Blaze Duo different?
The Blaze Duo 5G, launched in India in December 2024, adds a 1.58-inch AMOLED display on the back, next to its cameras. Lava positioned it as a way to make the rear cameras more useful for selfies and to surface quick information without turning on the main display. It is a distinctive feature, but its value depends on whether those specific uses fit your routine.
What you can do with the rear display
In Ashish Kumar’s January 9, 2025 review for 91mobiles, the rear panel was useful for framing selfies with the main cameras, controlling music, checking the time, and viewing notifications from a limited selection of supported apps. The reviewer found its controls less extensive than those on Lava’s Agni 3. It is best understood as a useful companion screen, not a full second smartphone display.

Lava specifies a 6.67-inch curved FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Those specifications make it a substantial part of the phone’s appeal for scrolling and video. However, 91mobiles cited a peak brightness of 625 nits and found visibility challenging in direct sunlight. That is the reviewer’s assessment, rather than an independent brightness test presented here; if you often use your phone outdoors, the limitation matters more than the refresh rate.

Does performance hold up?
The phone uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7025 chipset. The 91mobiles review found everyday use and gaming smooth on its 8GB review unit, which scored over 500,000 on AnTuTu. The reviewer also observed weaker thermal efficiency than the comparison phones used in its tests. These are results from one reviewed configuration and set of conditions, not a guarantee for every retail unit or workload.
What are the camera compromises?
The rear camera system consists of a 64MP main camera with a Sony sensor and a 2MP macro camera; the front camera is 16MP. In the 91mobiles review, daylight photos fell short of the comparison phones in sharpness and color accuracy. The reviewer also criticized selfie detail and skin tones. Those are subjective review findings, but they point to a clear trade-off: the rear screen can help you compose a selfie with the main camera, yet it does not remove the camera system’s image-quality limitations.

How long does the battery last, and how fast does it charge?
Lava lists a 5,000mAh battery and 33W charging. The 91mobiles reviewer said ordinary use could last roughly a day, but that is an estimate from the reviewer’s usage, not a runtime guarantee. On the tested unit, the review reported around 72 minutes to charge from 20% to 100%.
Lava’s launch announcement claimed a 50% charge in 36 minutes under its standard testing conditions. That manufacturer claim and the reviewer’s measured recharge time describe different conditions, so they should not be treated as directly comparable. The review found charging slower than on its comparison devices.

What is the software experience like?
The phone launched with Android 14. The 91mobiles review described the interface as near-stock and reported no pre-installed third-party apps, while noting that Lava’s own apps and Google apps were present. Lava’s December 2024 launch materials said Android 14 was upgradable to Android 15, and Gadgets 360 reported a promise of one major Android OS update. These historical statements do not establish which Android version is now installed on every variant or the current security-patch schedule.
What else should you know before buying?
Gadgets 360’s launch report lists 128GB UFS 3.1 storage that is not expandable, IP64 dust and splash resistance, and connectivity including 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and USB Type-C. IP64 is a rating for dust and water-splash protection; it does not mean the phone is waterproof. The phone has a single speaker, which the 91mobiles review found lacked crispness at maximum volume.

Lava offered Arctic White and Celestial Blue at launch. Its announcement said the exclusive sale would begin on Amazon on December 20, 2024. Availability and prices have since changed: Gadgets 360’s September 11, 2026 listing showed a starting price of ₹15,800 and marked the variants out of stock in that dated snapshot. Treat that as historical listing information, not a live quote; check current price and stock before deciding.

Pros and cons at a glance
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Distinctive rear AMOLED screen for rear-camera selfie framing, music controls, time, and supported notifications. | Rear-screen functions are limited, with fewer controls than the reviewer found on Lava’s Agni 3. |
| 6.67-inch curved FHD+ AMOLED main display with a 120Hz refresh rate. | 91mobiles found direct-sunlight visibility challenging. |
| Near-stock Android experience and smooth everyday use on the review unit. | Review findings point to weaker camera detail and color accuracy, plus disappointing selfie detail and skin tones. |
| 5,000mAh battery; the reviewer said ordinary use could last roughly a day. | The review reported around 72 minutes to charge its tested unit from 20% to 100% and criticized the single speaker’s sound at maximum volume. |
Verdict: should you buy the Lava Blaze Duo 5G?
Buy it if the rear display solves a real need for you—especially framing selfies with the main camera—and you value a clean-feeling Android interface and a high-refresh-rate AMOLED screen. On the evidence from the January 2025 review, it offers capable everyday performance, but the camera, outdoor display visibility, speaker, and charging are notable compromises.
If photography, strong outdoor readability, loud and crisp audio, or faster charging is your priority, the Blaze Duo is a less convincing fit. The 91mobiles review named the Redmi Note 14 and HMD Fusion as alternatives for buyers prioritizing photography, faster charging, or speaker quality; those relative observations date to January 2025, so compare current models, prices, availability, and software support before choosing. For the Blaze Duo itself, confirm current stock and price rather than relying on launch offers or an old listing.
