KATSEYE’s Lara Raj attended Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2027 show during Paris Fashion Week on October 2, 2026, in a yellow dress and Indian jewelry. Some coverage also described sindoor along her hair parting and a maang tikka. The look prompted both criticism and support in social-media posts sampled by news outlets, but those reactions do not establish a broader public consensus—or Raj’s intention for this particular styling.
What Lara Raj wore to the Loewe show
W Magazine’s October 2 account confirms that Raj and fellow KATSEYE member Megan Skiendiel attended Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2027 show, marking their Paris Fashion Week debut. W described Raj in a yellow Loewe dress with a ruby-and-white gemstone bindi and gold anklets: W Magazine’s show coverage.
Other publications reported additional details. Free Press Journal described a canary-yellow halter mini dress, a gemstone bindi connected to a gold maang tikka, gold anklets, a nose pin, silver jhumkas and a red streak of sindoor. Hindustan Times also described sindoor along Raj’s hair parting, a maang tika and a bindi. Those details should be attributed to those reports; W Magazine’s account does not mention the sindoor or maang tikka.

Free Press Journal characterized the look as inspired by Bollywood actor Rekha. That is the publication’s account, not a confirmed statement from Raj about this outfit. Read its description at Free Press Journal.

Sindoor, bindi and maang tikka are not interchangeable
The coverage names three distinct adornments: a red streak in the hair parting identified as sindoor, a bindi on the forehead and a maang tikka, a piece of jewelry worn at the hairline. They are not simply different names for the same accessory. Their meanings and uses can vary, and the reports about Raj’s appearance do not provide a comprehensive account of those meanings across communities or individuals.
That distinction matters in the debate. Some commenters objected specifically to sindoor being used as fashion styling or questioned its cultural and religious significance. Others defended Raj’s freedom to express her heritage and pointed to the possibility of more than one context for cultural adornment. Neither a styling choice nor a photograph establishes a person’s marital status or private beliefs.

What Raj has said about wearing a bindi
Raj has previously spoken about the bindi as part of her personal styling and representation of Indian culture. In a May 2025 Teen Vogue interview, she discussed pairing traditional jewelry from her family with American clothing and said she wanted the bindi to be seen as something fashionable rather than a reason to tease someone. She recalled being made fun of for wearing it and described wanting other brown girls to feel able to wear it, too. The interview is available at Teen Vogue.
That is useful context for Raj’s history with the bindi, but it is not an explanation of why she wore sindoor or chose this combination for Loewe. The coverage cited here does not establish her intent for the October 2026 look.

Why online reactions differed—and what they can show
Hindustan Times and IndiaTimes reported both criticism and support. Hindustan Times cited posts from Instagram and Reddit, including questions such as “Why is Lara wearing a sindoor on her head?” and “Is wearing sindoor a trend now?” These are examples of comments reproduced in coverage, not evidence of search volume or a poll of public opinion.
Hindustan Times explicitly said its account relied on user-generated social-media content, had not independently verified the claims and did not endorse them. IndiaTimes also described opposing reactions, but neither outlet establishes how representative the posts it sampled are.
