Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris makes a charming mobile adventure out of room-by-room exploration, combat, puzzles and loot—but its touchscreen controls can make simple traversal harder than it should be. Cristina Mesesan’s Pocket Gamer review finds plenty to enjoy once the controls click, while pointing to unclear input timing and the lack of a basic tutorial as the main obstacles.
What the mobile game is like
Pocket Gamer lists Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris for iOS and Android and classifies it as an action game and shooter. The mobile version reviewed by Cristina Mesesan is built around moving through rooms, fighting enemies, solving puzzles and collecting loot. That variety gives the adventure a recognizable Tomb Raider feel: exploration and puzzle-solving sit alongside combat rather than one element carrying the whole experience. Pocket Gamer’s game page provides the platform listing and classification.

Why exploration works—and where the controls get in the way
Mesesan describes the mobile adaptation as charming and says its mix of rooms, enemies, puzzles and loot brought back memories of Tomb Raider. She also found the simplified controls responsive, but that does not mean every action feels intuitive. Her central criticism is that touchscreen buttons need to be pressed in a particular sequence and at the right moment, without enough instruction to make that sequence obvious.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe grappling hook problem
Mesesan’s example is a jump across spikes using the grappling hook. She says it took her roughly 15 to 20 minutes to figure out that she needed to jump first, then press and hold the hook control. That is her personal account of learning one maneuver, not a general estimate of how long the game takes to complete. The frustration comes less from the idea of a demanding platforming move than from having to discover its input sequence without a straightforward tutorial.
#1 Best Overall
- All-New Adventure - Lara must overcome deadly traps and forsaken gods to uncover the missing pieces of Osiris and change her fate
- Classic Arcade Action - First ever 4 player co-op multiplayer experience featuring Lara Croft. Have your friends play as Carter, Isis, and Horus while you play as Lara in the fully cooperative story mode - both offline and online supported
- Competitive Co-op - Compete against your friends with seamless drop-in/drop-out co-op to earn bigger rewards, treasures, and powerful artifacts to boost your character. Will you work together or will you sacrifice your friends for a higher score
Other interface rough edges
The review also notes that enemy health bars were missing in her experience. Mesesan played on an iPhone 17 Pro and did not have keyboard or mouse access during her play, so her comments describe that review setup rather than a comparison across devices. She suggests that an iPad player could connect a keyboard and mouse, but does not report testing that option or establish which devices are compatible.
Loot gives players room to change their build
Gear unlocks add a layer of customization to the adventure. Mesesan gives amulets that add shots or create scatter shot as examples of how equipment can change a player’s build. That progression supports the combat-and-exploration loop: loot is not only something to collect, but can affect how Lara handles encounters.

The review says players can try a free demo stage before purchasing the full version. It does not provide a current price, so the review is not a reliable guide to what the full game costs now.

Multiplayer is presented as a way to play with friends, but Mesesan did not try it herself. Her review therefore supports the existence of a multiplayer option, not a judgment about how well it works or how enjoyable it is.

Verdict: an appealing adventure with a control-learning curve
For players willing to work through touchscreen input quirks, the mobile game offers a pleasant blend of exploration, puzzles, combat and build choices. The main drawback is that basic traversal can feel unnecessarily difficult when button timing is unclear and the game does not teach key actions plainly. Mesesan’s assessment is that it can be enjoyable once players get past those control problems—a good fit for patient mobile adventurers, but a less inviting one for anyone who expects movement and grappling to feel immediately obvious.
