The Kyocera ECOSYS PA4500x is a single-function, A4 monochrome laser printer designed for workgroups that need fast black-and-white printing, wired networking and room to expand paper input. Kyocera rates it at up to 45 A4 pages per minute, but the available evidence is manufacturer specification material—not independent testing—so print quality, real-world throughput and long-term reliability remain unverified.
What the PA4500x is—and what this review can establish
The PA4500x is a print-only A4 printer: it does not scan or copy. Its core proposition is straightforward: high rated monochrome speed, a 500-sheet main cassette, a 100-sheet multipurpose tray and optional feeders for larger paper reserves. It is a plausible fit for a small office or workgroup with recurring document-printing needs, provided the required features and local support terms match the buyer’s market.
This is a specification-led review based on Kyocera documentation. It does not establish independent print-quality measurements, hands-on setup experience, reliability history, current selling price or cost per page. Kyocera’s product page calls the printer a “powerful printer embedded with high-level security features”; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent security assessment. Kyocera rates the printer at up to 45 A4 pages per minute for simplex printing and up to 22.5 pages per minute for duplex. Those are manufacturer-listed engine rates, not independently measured office throughput; the actual pace for a job depends on its content and workflow. Resolution is presented differently across Kyocera materials. The European product page specifies 1,200 × 1,200 dpi, while a regional specification page lists 600 × 600 dpi alongside Fast 1200 and Fine 1200 modes. These are specification conventions and modes in different regional materials; they should not be collapsed into a single claim about independently assessed output quality. Paper capacity, media and expansion
Out of the box, the printer has a 500-sheet cassette and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, for 600 sheets of standard input capacity. Kyocera lists face-down output capacity at 250 sheets. Optional configurations can raise input capacity to as much as 2,600 sheets. The brochure names PF-3110 500-sheet feeders, up to four, and also describes an alternative bulk-feeder/base configuration; confirm the exact supported configuration and regional availability before buying. The standard duplexer is specified for paper weights of 60–120 g/m². The multipurpose tray supports stock up to 220 g/m², subject to supported sizes and the regional documentation. Heavier media is therefore a tray-specific capability, not a reason to assume that every paper type can be fed or duplexed. Check the manual for the intended size and media combination.

Toner and running costs
The named black cartridge is the Kyocera TK-3400. Kyocera gives it an average continuous yield of 12,500 pages under ISO/IEC 19752; the supplied starter toner is rated at 6,000 pages. These standardized yields are not a promise of the number of pages a particular office will get, because actual consumption varies with the documents and printing pattern. No local cartridge price or comparable cost-per-page figure is established here. To estimate your own supply cost, check the price and compatibility of the TK-3400 in your country, then compare it with other printers using the same kind of yield basis. The optional PF-3110 feeder is relevant only if the standard 600-sheet input is insufficient; its local price and availability also need checking.
Connections, mobile printing and security
Kyocera lists USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. Wireless LAN is optional in the European specifications, so do not assume Wi-Fi is included in every regional configuration. Listed printing support includes AirPrint, Mopria, KYOCERA Mobile Print, multiple page-description languages, direct PDF printing and Microsoft Universal Print. European documentation lists data overwrite and encryption, a trusted platform module (TPM), secure boot, runtime integrity checks, S/MIME and TLS 1.3; the brochure also lists network security functions. These are manufacturer-listed capabilities, not proof of a particular security configuration, certification or compliance outcome. Size, power and noise figures
Kyocera’s European specifications give dimensions of approximately 380 × 410 × 285 mm without protrusions and 390 × 416 × 308 mm with protrusions. The brochure gives a weight of about 14.6 kg with bundled toner. Allow extra room for paper access, ventilation and any optional feeders; the listed printer dimensions do not describe an expanded setup. Kyocera Europe product page and product brochure.
The same European materials list 605.5 W while printing, 8.4 W in ready mode and 0.5 W in sleep mode. These are manufacturer-stated operating-mode figures, not independently measured energy use. The brochure lists printing noise at 54 dB(A) and standby at 30 dB(A); a regional page also lists a 50 dB(A) silent mode. Mode availability and figures may depend on market and specification. Warranty and regional differences
Kyocera’s European page lists a one-year standard warranty and a conditional three-year or 300,000-page guarantee for the drum and developer, whichever occurs first, subject to instructions for use and cleaning. Who should consider the PA4500x?
- Good candidate: an office that primarily prints A4 black-and-white documents, values a high rated engine speed, and can use wired Ethernet or USB.
- Potentially useful: a team that needs more than the standard 600-sheet input and can accommodate optional feeders, after confirming the local configuration and cost.
- Check first: buyers who need wireless networking as standard, frequent heavy-stock duplexing, specific security compliance, or a particular service and warranty arrangement.
- Look elsewhere or compare carefully: anyone who needs scanning, copying, color output, independently verified print-quality results, or a proven local cost-per-page advantage. The PA4500x is a printer, and the available material does not establish those broader claims.
Before deciding, compare the rated simplex and duplex speeds with your job mix, the standard cassette and tray with your refill frequency, supported paper weights with the media you actually use, and TK-3400 availability and price with your supply budget. For fleet or installation requirements, check support with a local Kyocera-authorized provider.
