The Kyocera ECOSYS PA4000wx is a print-only monochrome laser printer designed for business use. Its manufacturer rates it at up to 42 pages per minute on Letter paper, with standard duplex printing, Ethernet and wireless networking, and a 250-sheet cassette plus a 100-sheet multipurpose tray in the listed US configuration. It is worth considering if you need fast black-and-white network printing; it is not the right fit if you need color, scanning or copying. The published performance figures are manufacturer specifications, not results from independent testing.
What the PA4000wx does—and what it does not
The PA4000wx is a single-function printer: it prints in black and white but does not scan or copy. Its US product listing identifies Hi-Speed USB, gigabit Ethernet and wireless LAN, making it suitable for a directly connected workstation or a shared network printer. Kyocera’s 2024 announcement describes the model as having a five-line LCD and wireless connectivity. Kyocera’s US product page and 2024 product announcement provide the manufacturer’s model details.
That feature set makes the PA4000wx a better match for an office that already has a scanner or multifunction device than for someone buying one machine for every document task. If your work depends on color graphics, a color printer is also a more appropriate choice.

Kyocera rates the PA4000wx at 42 pages per minute on Letter paper and 40 sheets per minute on A4 paper. The same documentation lists 34 pages per minute for Legal paper and 21 pages per minute for duplex Letter printing. First print is rated at 6.4 seconds or less from the cassette. These are manufacturer figures; they do not establish the speed you will get with your documents, network, settings or workflow.

The specification guide lists 600 × 600 dpi resolution, with output up to Fine 1200 dpi. It also gives an 80,000-page monthly volume specification. That figure is a manufacturer-rated volume specification, not an independently verified recommended monthly workload. Kyocera’s specifications may change; consult the PA4000wx specification guide for the published figures.
Paper handling, size and expansion
The listed US configuration has a 250-sheet cassette and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. The multipurpose tray gives you a separate feed option in addition to the cassette, while the operation guide also documents optional extra paper-feeder capacity. Check the current model and accessory listing before buying an optional feeder to confirm compatibility and the capacity of the specific configuration.

The printer measures about 14.8 × 15.5 × 10.7 inches (375 × 393 × 272 mm). Kyocera lists its weight as 14 kg without the toner container. Allow additional space for access to trays and routine maintenance; the published measurements describe the unit itself, not the clearance needed for installation.
Connectivity and operating-system support
The documented interfaces are Hi-Speed USB and gigabit Ethernet, with wireless LAN on the wireless model. Kyocera lists PCL6, KPDL3 (PostScript 3 compatible), XPS, OpenXPS and PDF emulations. Its operation guide lists Windows 10 and 11, Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022, and Mac OS X 10.9 or later; the manufacturer’s announcement also says the range is compatible with Chrome OS.

Those listings do not guarantee that a particular driver or feature works with every current device or OS update. Before purchase, check Kyocera’s PA4000wx support and downloads page for the driver and documentation relevant to your exact platform and version.
PA4000wx toner: included cartridge versus replacement
For the US model, the replacement cartridge is the black TK-1262. Kyocera states a yield of up to 10,000 pages under ISO 19752 for that replacement cartridge. The cartridge supplied with the printer is rated at 3,600 sheets in the operation guide, so do not assume the included toner has the same yield as a new TK-1262 replacement. Actual pages depend on print data and toner use.

Part numbers and yields vary by region: Kyocera’s guide identifies TK-1264 for Oceania and TK-1265 or TK-1267 in Asia, with different stated yields. The US TK-1262 specification should not be applied to printers sold in other markets. Kyocera recommends genuine toner and warns that a non-genuine container may cause image defects or product failure; that is the manufacturer’s guidance, not an independently demonstrated result. A cost per page cannot be established from yield alone: it also requires a current price for the correct regional cartridge. Compare that price with your expected volume, and account for the lower stated yield of the included cartridge when estimating early replacement needs.

Kyocera’s model-specific support page lists drivers, documentation, software and a setup tool. Its downloads include an operation guide, device setup guide and toner installation guide. Driver versions and operating-system support can change, so use the current support page rather than relying on an older installer or compatibility list: PA4000wx support and downloads.
Is the Kyocera ECOSYS PA4000wx right for you?
- Consider it if your work is predominantly monochrome, you want a networked printer, and the rated Letter speed and standard duplexing suit your expected workload.
- Look elsewhere if you need color, scanning or copying in the same device.
- Check before buying that your operating system has a current supported driver, the listed paper capacity fits your workflow, and the correct regional toner is available at an acceptable price.
The specifications establish a fast, print-only business printer with wired and wireless connectivity, but they do not establish real-world print speed, output quality, reliability, noise or setup ease. Kyocera’s 2024 announcement describes the range as designed around updated security, compatibility and toner yield; these are manufacturer positioning statements, not independent findings about this model.
