The KTC M27P6S combines a glossy 27-inch 4K screen, a 160Hz native refresh rate, 2,304-zone Mini LED backlighting and an alternative 1080p 320Hz mode. That makes it an unusually flexible gaming display, but not a no-compromise one: the faster mode looks softer, and DisplayNinja’s 2026 review found HDR color-calibration issues alongside strong measured brightness.

What the KTC M27P6S offers

KTC lists the M27P6S as a 27-inch Fast IPS monitor with a 3840×2160 native resolution, a glossy “Obsidian” screen surface and a Mini LED backlight divided into 2,304 local-dimming zones. Its defining feature is a choice between 4K at up to 160Hz and 1080p at up to 320Hz. KTC markets the first mode for detailed games and the second for competitive play. The official KTC product page lists 8-bit plus FRC color, 99% DCI-P3, 99% sRGB and 97% Adobe RGB coverage, and 1,400 cd/m² HDR brightness as manufacturer specifications.

DisplayNinja’s review, published September 29, 2026, describes the monitor as supporting DisplayHDR 1400, variable refresh rate (VRR), USB-C with 65W power delivery and a built-in KVM. Its tests used USA-1.0.1 firmware; results below are that review’s measurements and observations, not manufacturer specifications.

Does it run at 4K 160Hz?

Yes. Its native mode is 3840×2160 at up to 160Hz. The alternate mode reaches 320Hz by switching to 1920×1080, so it does not provide 320Hz at 4K. On this 27-inch screen, DisplayNinja found 1080p somewhat blurry because the panel is being driven below its native resolution and does not use integer scaling; interpolation softens the image. Choose the faster mode only if refresh rate matters more to you than fine detail.

HDR brightness and picture quality

Very bright output, with results that depend on the image

DisplayNinja measured brightness at three white-window sizes with local dimming set to High: 1,105 cd/m² at a 3% average-picture-level window, 1,467 cd/m² at 10%, and 1,749 cd/m² across a full white window. These are distinct, window-specific test results; none should be treated as a single universal brightness figure. KTC’s published HDR brightness claim is 1,400 cd/m², and the review’s measurements use different conditions from that specification.

Color coverage and calibration

The review measured 94.8% DCI-P3 coverage, below KTC’s advertised 99%. DisplayNinja suggests differences in colorimeters and test methods may account for some of the gap. The reviewer also flagged HDR color calibration, saturation accuracy and a color temperature that was too high. By contrast, the review describes the SDR sRGB and Adobe RGB modes as well calibrated. Its measurements do not establish that every unit or firmware version will behave identically.

Local dimming, blooming and flicker

The 2,304-zone backlight can deliver strong HDR highlights, and DisplayNinja reports low blooming in most scenes. Blooming was still visible in some situations, particularly when viewed at an angle, so the zone count does not make the monitor equivalent to a display with per-pixel lighting. The reviewer says an STW polarizer improves black levels at an angle and reduces IPS glow and blooming compared with the KTC M27P6. It also observed subtle brightness flicker during some dark-to-bright transitions; this may be noticeable at 60Hz but was not reported at higher refresh rates.

Gaming response and motion features

At 4K 160Hz with Advanced overdrive, DisplayNinja measured a 4.63ms gray-to-gray response time, 3.9% average overshoot error and 86.67% refresh-rate compliance. These figures apply to that mode and setting, not every overdrive option or refresh rate. The reviewer describes latency with local dimming enabled as slightly higher than ideal, though still playable at high refresh rates.

In 1080p 320Hz mode, overdrive settings are locked in the monitor’s on-screen display. DisplayNinja says they can be changed through KTC’s MCC desktop application. The monitor can also combine VRR with motion-blur reduction (MBR), but the review notes substantial strobe crosstalk in that combination. If you are sensitive to motion artifacts, treat that feature as a trade-off rather than an automatic upgrade.

Is the glossy screen and connectivity a good fit?

The glossy finish can make images look crisp, but room lights and windows can reflect in it. It is best suited to a setup where you can control reflections; a bright room with light sources behind you may make a matte display more practical. DisplayNinja’s review considers the glossy surface part of the monitor’s immersive appeal.

For a mixed gaming and desk setup, the review identifies USB-C with 65W laptop power delivery and a built-in KVM, which can simplify connecting a laptop and switching shared peripherals. KTC lists two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, three USB 3.0 ports, USB-C and a headphone output. KTC also describes height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustment. Check that the USB-C power output and port arrangement suit your laptop and peripherals; the stated 65W delivery may not meet every laptop’s needs.

At 163 pixels per inch in native 4K, small interface text may be uncomfortable at default scaling. DisplayNinja says scaling is needed for comfortable small text and notes modern applications generally handle it.

Strengths and limitations

What stands out What to weigh
Glossy 4K IPS panel with 160Hz native refresh and 2,304-zone Mini LED dimming The 1080p 320Hz mode is visibly softer on a 27-inch screen
High window-specific brightness in DisplayNinja’s measurements The review found HDR calibration and saturation accuracy need improvement
SDR modes described as well calibrated; wide-gamut color Measured DCI-P3 coverage was 94.8%, versus KTC’s 99% claim
USB-C, 65W power delivery, KVM and an adjustable stand Some blooming, transition flicker and local-dimming latency remain possible
VRR and high-refresh modes, with adjustable overdrive in 4K mode 1080p overdrive requires KTC’s MCC app; VRR plus MBR has substantial strobe crosstalk

Price, warranty and what is not established

Prices differed between the two sources available for this review. At access, KTC’s US page displayed $549.99 sale pricing and $669.99 regular pricing, along with 30-day returns, a three-year warranty and a 30-day price-match offer. DisplayNinja listed a $600 MSRP and a current $400 price, plus a 10% off code for Amazon. Those figures may reflect different dates, sellers or promotions; the sources do not resolve the discrepancy. Check the live listing and confirm its seller, price and terms before buying.

The available review does not establish long-term reliability or warranty-claim experience. DisplayNinja tested USA-1.0.1 firmware; its review does not confirm whether later firmware has been released or whether one addresses the issues noted above. It also flags a quality-control concern without establishing how common a problem may be.

Who should buy the KTC M27P6S?

It is a compelling option if you want a glossy 4K gaming monitor with high refresh, zone-based HDR dimming and a genuinely faster alternate mode, and you are comfortable choosing between image detail and maximum refresh rate. Its brightness and feature set are attractive, but its HDR calibration, occasional blooming or flicker, and the softness of 1080p are meaningful compromises. For comparisons with other monitors, match the resolution and refresh mode, HDR window size and dimming setting, response behavior, screen finish, USB-C power delivery and current seller price rather than comparing headline numbers alone.
