KT Cloud plans a 50 MW AI data center in Cheongna, Incheon, with construction targeted to start in Q4 2026 and completion targeted for Q1 2030. The announced facility would serve both AI and general cloud workloads; these are project targets, not confirmation that construction has started or the center is operating.
What KT Cloud is planning
KT Cloud announced on 7 October 2026 that it would participate as the project’s design, build, and operate (DBO) partner. The planned facility has a power receiving capacity of 50 MW. KT Cloud’s announcement is listed on its official press page, and Yonhap reported the project details the same day.
The plan calls for a building with two basement levels and 11 floors above ground. KT Cloud’s announced scope includes design consulting, major mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) work, commissioning to verify stability and operations, and operation after completion. Hyundai Engineering is identified as a joint construction partner. These roles describe the announced project arrangement; they do not establish that construction is underway.

KT Cloud’s announced schedule targets a construction start in Q4 2026 and completion in Q1 2030. The dates are targets, not a confirmed opening date. The announcement does not establish when the facility would begin serving customers.

Will the center support AI workloads?
Yes. KT Cloud describes separate AI and cloud zones. The AI zone is intended for high-density GPU servers and is planned to use direct-to-chip liquid cooling. The separate cloud zone is intended for general cloud services. The announcement does not name GPU models or provide further technical specifications for the cooling system. Yonhap’s report carries the project details.
How Cheongna fits KT Cloud’s regional plans
KT Cloud says it intends to link Cheongna with existing regional data centers, including Gasan and Mokdong, to support customer expansion and improve continuity between sites. The company has also stated a goal of securing more than 1 GW of AI data center supply capacity by 2031. That figure is a corporate target, not capacity already delivered.

Yonhap attributes this translated statement to KT Cloud CEO Kim Bong-kyun: “Cheongna AI data center is expected to serve as a key hub in the western cluster of the capital region and effectively respond to demand from domestic and overseas enterprise customers requiring large-scale AI infrastructure.”

The announcement and contemporaneous reporting do not establish project financing, named customers, signed capacity commitments, or commercial terms. The planned capacity and schedule should therefore be read as announced project specifications and targets—not evidence of contracted demand or an operating data center.
