Helenius’s recent scoring context
Helenius, selected 14th overall by Buffalo in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft, came into the opener after a strong season with the Rochester Americans, Buffalo’s AHL affiliate. In 2025–26, he recorded 63 points—21 goals and 42 assists—in 63 Rochester games. The Sabres’ player notes, accurate as of September 1, 2026, say that total tied him for ninth among AHL skaters in points and set a Rochester franchise record for points by a teenager.
Those same dated notes list four points (one goal and three assists) in nine Buffalo regular-season games in 2025–26. The Sabres profile gives his name pronunciation as “hehl-ehn-YOOHS, KAWN-stuh” and lists him as signed through 2027–28 on an entry-level contract as of September 1, 2026.
