The Kogan KAWFSMDEHUA is a discontinued desiccant dehumidifier that CHOICE rated at 48% in its 2025 testing coverage. CHOICE lists a claimed water-removal capacity of 7 litres per day and estimated it would cost $18.79 in electricity to remove 10 litres of water. That cost is a historical estimate, not a current tariff-based guarantee.
What kind of dehumidifier is the KAWFSMDEHUA?
CHOICE identifies the KAWFSMDEHUA as a desiccant dehumidifier and marks it discontinued. Its model listing specifies a weight of 6 kg, three fan speeds and a recommended room size under 40 m². The listed 7 L/day water-removal figure is the manufacturer’s claimed rate, not a result from CHOICE’s independent test. See CHOICE’s model listing.
How did it perform in CHOICE’s testing?
In an article last updated 8 May 2025, CHOICE reported a 48% CHOICE Expert Rating for this model. The score is a poor overall result, but the public model page keeps detailed results—including water removal, energy efficiency and ease of use—behind membership. The accessible information therefore does not establish how the model scored in each individual test category. Read CHOICE’s 2025 dehumidifier coverage.

CHOICE reported an estimated electricity cost of $18.79 to remove 10 L of water with the KAWFSMDEHUA. This is CHOICE’s calculation as reported in 2025, not a guaranteed current cost: electricity tariffs vary, and the figure should not be treated as a quote for your home. It also differs from the 7 L/day figure, which is a claimed capacity rather than an independently measured removal rate.

What do owners say?
ProductReview.com.au displays one owner review. That reviewer described the unit as quiet, said its timer was useful, and reported personal improvements in mould and respiratory symptoms. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you buy the KAWFSMDEHUA?
CHOICE lists the model as discontinued, so the available evidence does not establish whether it can currently be bought new or what it would cost. Its reported 48% rating and historical running-cost estimate do not make it an easy recommendation. If you are considering a second-hand unit, check its condition and operation in person; if you need a current model, compare available products using independently measured water removal, energy use per quantity removed, room suitability, noise and warranty. No specific successor or current alternative is established here.
