The Kmart/ANKO VC-9790 is a legacy 1200W upright vacuum, but the available evidence is not enough to judge its real-world cleaning performance: there is no independent test, and customer reviews are self-selected. The model’s manual explains how to clean its filters and recommends replacing the pre-motor filter every 3–6 months, or sooner if needed. ProductReview.com.au marks the 1200W model discontinued. Check the label on your appliance before relying on model-specific details, and do not confuse it with Kmart Australia’s separate, currently listed 1000W upright vacuum.
What is the Kmart VC-9790?
The ANKO VC-9790 is identified as a household vacuum in a model-specific manual, and a separate manual reproduction connects it with Kmart’s legacy 1200W upright vacuum. Check the model number on your vacuum’s label and the documentation supplied with it before applying these details; manuals hosted by aggregators are not official Kmart product pages.
“1200W” identifies the model’s stated electrical power, not a measured suction level or proof of cleaning effectiveness. The available sources do not provide a controlled performance test, lifespan estimate, or defect rate for the VC-9790.

There is not enough reliable evidence to give the VC-9790 a test-based verdict. ProductReview.com.au displays 288 customer reviews for the Kmart 1200W Upright Vacuum and marks it discontinued. Those are user submissions, not controlled tests or a representative sample, so they can show that experiences vary but cannot establish typical suction, reliability, or service life.

No directly tested alternative is established by the sources available here.

The manual recommends replacing the pre-motor filter every 3–6 months, or sooner if required. Treat this as a maintenance recommendation, not an unconditional schedule: inspect the filter and follow the manual for your unit. If buying a replacement, confirm that it is specifically compatible with VC-9790; a generic vacuum filter is not evidence of a fit.
Is the VC-9790 discontinued, and is it the same as Kmart’s current upright?
ProductReview.com.au labels its Kmart 1200W Upright Vacuum page discontinued. That label supports describing the legacy model as discontinued on that review platform; it does not establish when sales ended or guarantee that no second-hand or remaining stock exists.

Its specifications do not establish the VC-9790’s features or availability. Verify the SKU and model number rather than treating the current listing as a replacement or updated specification for the 1200W vacuum.
