Who replaced KLA-Tencor’s retiring CFO?

John Kispert was selected to replace Bob Beohlke as KLA-Tencor’s chief financial officer. At the time of the announcement, Kispert was the company’s vice president of finance, making the appointment an internal promotion.

Why did KLA-Tencor describe the move as succession planning?

The company said the appointment was part of a strategic succession plan it had started several years earlier. Schroeder described the broader effort as developing the next tier of management and preparing future leaders, rather than waiting until a senior executive departed to identify a replacement.

Kispert had joined KLA-Tencor in 1995 and previously held management positions at IBM. He also helped bring the businesses together after the 1997 merger of KLA Instruments and Tencor Instruments, contributing to the creation of a single business operation.

Who succeeded Kispert as CFO later?

Kispert’s later career at KLA-Tencor included moving into the president and chief operating officer role. A company release dated January 9, 2006, said Jeffrey Hall had been appointed CFO effective January 5, succeeding Kispert. The company’s 2006 announcement documents that transition.

In 2013, KLA-Tencor announced Bren Higgins as executive vice president and CFO. The company said Higgins would assume CFO duties after the fiscal 2013 Form 10-K filing, while Mark Dentinger would remain as a senior adviser through the end of the year to support the transition. Those details appear in the company’s July 9, 2013 release.
