Kiteworks announced a $456 million growth-equity investment on August 14, 2024, supplied by Insight Partners and Sixth Street Growth. The minority-stake transaction included partial liquidity for existing stakeholders and implied a valuation above $1 billion, but Kiteworks did not disclose an exact valuation.

Who invested $456 million in Kiteworks?

Insight Partners and Sixth Street Growth provided the investment, according to Sixth Street’s announcement on August 14, 2024. The company described it as growth equity, a minority-stake investment and a partial liquidity event—not a conventional venture-capital Series round. SecurityWeek also characterized the deal as a minority-stake growth-equity investment (SecurityWeek).

Kiteworks had previously raised $120 million in 2020 in a round led by Bregal Sagemount, SecurityWeek reported. That earlier financing is separate from the 2024 investment.

What is Kiteworks?

Kiteworks sells a Private Content Network for organizations that need to share, track and control sensitive information. The platform brings together three communication areas: secure file sharing, managed file transfer and email data communications. Its stated focus is enterprise, government and regulated-industry use, where security, privacy and compliance requirements shape how information moves between people and systems. Sixth Street’s announcement described the platform as FedRAMP-authorized and designed to support global compliance requirements (Sixth Street).

So Kiteworks is not only a file-sharing provider or only a managed-file-transfer company. Its offering spans those functions as well as email data communications.

What will Kiteworks do with the funding?

Management said the investment would help strengthen Kiteworks’ position in secure data transfer and collaboration. TechCrunch reported that the company planned to use some of the proceeds for acquisitions (TechCrunch). The stated direction is therefore both to reinforce its market position and to support expansion through acquisitions; the announcement did not provide a specific acquisition budget or timetable.

How much is Kiteworks worth after the raise?

The exact valuation was not disclosed. SecurityWeek reported that Kiteworks described itself as a unicorn, which indicates an implied valuation above $1 billion; TechCrunch likewise reported a valuation of more than $1 billion (SecurityWeek; TechCrunch). Treat that as a threshold, not a precise post-investment valuation.

What was Kiteworks’ reported scale in 2024?

In its August 2024 coverage, TechCrunch reported that Kiteworks had been profitable for two years, served 100 million end users and worked with more than 3,650 global enterprises and government agencies (TechCrunch). These are figures reported at the time of the investment announcement, not confirmed current totals.

What happened after the 2024 investment?

In June 2025, Zivver announced that it had joined Kiteworks and repeated the August 2024 financing history. That announcement also pointed to Kiteworks’ expansion in sovereign and private-data exchange solutions (Zivver’s announcement). This later development provides context for the company’s growth strategy, but it does not change the undisclosed valuation of the 2024 transaction.
