How do you clean and descale a KitchenAid Nespresso machine?
Routine cleaning
The manual says the capsule disposal container, drip grid, and drip tray may be washed by hand or in the top rack of a dishwasher. Wash the water tank by hand; it is not dishwasher-safe. Avoid abrasive cleaners and scouring pads.
Descaling
The family manual treats descaling as regular maintenance: it advises removing mineral scale monthly, and more often in hard-water locations. It recommends Nespresso packaged descaling agent and says KitchenAid does not recommend vinegar or home-remedy solutions.
For the documented cycle, the manual directs users to follow the package directions for two packets, fill the water tank to its maximum line, and place a container of at least 1.5 L under the outlet. It then calls for a second full-tank water cycle to rinse. Follow the manual for this machine and the descaler package rather than instructions for newer KitchenAid fully automatic models.

- Check whether the machine needs descaling.
- Empty the capsule container if it is full.
- Check for a blocked capsule and confirm that the capsule is oriented correctly.
- Make sure the handle is completely closed.
After a brew, the manual says to wait three seconds before opening the capsule door.

That rating applies to the manual’s US instructions; it does not establish the electrical specification for the AAC suffix in another market. Check the machine’s rating label and the local manual before connecting it to power, especially when buying an imported or second-hand unit.

Warranty, availability, and whether it is worth buying
The manual states a two-year full warranty from purchase for the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada, with geographic and use limitations and service through authorized channels.
