Domantas Sabonis called the offseason trade rumors surrounding him “all made up,” saying it was easy to ignore social-media chatter because he stays in touch with Kings executive Scott Perry and his agent. His comment reflects his view of the rumors; it does not rule out reported discussions between Sacramento and other teams.
What Sabonis said about the rumors
In an interview with Eurohoops’s Johnny Askounis, reported by Sam Amico at Hoops Wire on October 2, 2026, Sabonis said: “Easy. It’s all made up.” He added: “I don’t know where you guys get most of it from. I’m there with Scott [Perry], with my agent, so I’m not on social media as much.”
NBA.com lists Sabonis’s Kings Media Day appearance on September 30, 2026. That confirms the event and its timing, but it is not a transcript of the exchange about trade chatter.

A separate October 3 Bleacher Report account summarized reports by Jake Fischer that Sacramento and Charlotte had exploratory discussions about a possible Sabonis swap ahead of the 2026 draft. Exploratory discussions do not establish that a deal was close or that either team had agreed to a trade.

Is Sabonis getting traded?
The cited coverage does not confirm a trade, establish that Sacramento has ruled one out, or set out a long-term plan for Sabonis. He remained a Kings player in the coverage as the 2026–27 season approached. His dismissal of the chatter should not be treated as an official statement of the team’s position.
