Warhorse Studios co-founder Martin Klíma hopes that if Grand Theft Auto VI succeeds at a higher price, other developers will find it easier to charge more for games. That is his hope—not evidence that GTA VI will cause other publishers to raise prices.
What Martin Klíma said about GTA 6 and game prices
In an interview reported by PC Gamer on October 1, 2026, Klíma argued that rising development costs leave studios with difficult choices about how to bring in more revenue. In his view, charging more per copy is one remaining option:
“The last thing you can do is to increase the unit price. That would help a lot, but everybody’s scared to death about it. Now, hopefully, GTA will blaze the trail, and it will allow us to increase the cost.”

He also said Rockstar and Take-Two are among the few companies able to risk a price increase, calling it “long overdue” and necessary for the business to survive. These are Klíma’s views as an individual developer, not a formal Warhorse Studios position or an established forecast about the industry.

What GTA 6 costs, according to the reported editions
PC Gamer reported the following prices in its June 24, 2026 coverage, citing Rockstar’s preorder announcement:

The figures are the reported headline prices; the available material does not establish regional pricing or verify retailer availability. PC Gamer says the Ultimate Edition includes exclusive vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action, but buyers should check the live edition details before relying on a specific contents list. Will GTA 6 success lead other publishers to raise prices?
It could give other companies a prominent example to point to, which is the outcome Klíma hopes for. But a successful launch would not by itself prove that other publishers can raise prices without losing customers, or that they will choose to do so. The reporting establishes his argument about production costs and revenue per unit; it does not establish how audiences will respond or how competitors will act.

Why Klíma’s comments are not a GTA fan endorsement
Klíma said the Grand Theft Auto series “doesn’t appeal to me at all” and that he fails to understand its popularity. He also praised the games as technological marvels and wished the new release luck. His point is about the potential industry effect of a major game selling at a higher price, not personal enthusiasm for the series.
