Kingdom: Return of The Great General is listed on Netflix as a 2024 film, and a secondary aggregation of Netflix Top 10 data reports 4.5 million views and 11 million hours watched from January through June 2025. That indicates reported reach during that six-month period—not a Netflix-issued hit verdict or a lifetime total. Netflix availability varies by country.
Is Kingdom: Return of The Great General on Netflix?
Netflix has a title page for Kingdom: Return of The Great General, identified there as a 2024 film. The listing does not establish that the film is currently available in every country: Netflix’s catalog is territory-specific, so check the title page in your local account.
What does the Netflix performance figure show?
A What’s on Netflix compilation of Netflix Global Top 10 data reports 4.5 million views and 11 million hours watched for the film in January–June 2025. These are figures for that reporting window, not lifetime totals, and the compilation is a secondary source rather than a Netflix announcement declaring the film a success.

Netflix explains that its engagement reporting covers about 99% of Netflix video watch time. Its “views” measure is total hours viewed divided by a title’s runtime, so it is not a count of unique people. Netflix described that methodology in its February 26, 2025 announcement about the July–December 2024 Engagement Report. That methodology helps interpret the reported 2025 figure; it is not itself a performance result for this film.

What is the film about?
The fourth live-action Kingdom film continues the Battle of Mayang from the preceding installment; it is not a standalone story. According to the official story synopsis, Shin and his allies have defeated an enemy commander when Zhao general Houken appears. The Hi Shin Unit tries to save a gravely wounded Shin, while Qin general Ouki returns to the battlefield, sensing a further threat behind Zhao’s forces.
How does it fit the Kingdom story?
The film adapts Yasuhisa Hara’s manga, published by Shueisha. The official introduction frames the story in China’s Spring and Autumn and Warring States period. It follows Shin, a war orphan who dreams of becoming a great general, and the young king Ying Zheng, who seeks to unify China. This is the dramatic framing of the manga and film, not a documentary account of ancient history.
The official introduction reported one billion manga copies in circulation as of November 2023. That is a franchise circulation figure, not a measure of the film’s box office or Netflix audience.
How do Netflix views differ from the film’s Japanese box office?
The film’s official site reported that it exceeded ¥8 billion in Japanese box-office revenue in 2024. That theatrical figure and the January–June 2025 Netflix engagement figures measure different things, in different periods and channels; they should not be combined as if they were a single performance total.

These dates document the Japanese release announcement; they do not establish current stock or the availability of a particular edition in another region.
