Shenzhen Transsion Holdings, the company behind Tecno, Infinix and itel phones, is seeking up to HK$3.36 billion (about US$428.1 million) in a Hong Kong share offering. The reported offer covers 86.6 million shares at a maximum of HK$38.8 each, with subscriptions scheduled for October 7–12, 2026, and trading expected to start October 15. Those dates and figures are reported offer terms, not confirmation that the final price or listing has been set.
Who is the “King of Africa” smartphone maker?
The issuer is Shenzhen Transsion Holdings Co., Ltd., a Chinese handset maker associated with the Tecno, Infinix and itel brands. South China Morning Post described it as “the maker of Africa’s bestselling phones” in its October 7, 2026 report; that characterization is the publication’s wording, not an independently verified current ranking. The June 2026 Hong Kong application proof identifies the company and its proposed listing, but is marked as a draft subject to change: HKEX application proof.
For a concrete product example, SCMP identified the Tecno Spark 8C as a Transsion handset. That is an example of the company’s consumer products, not a statement about the model’s current availability or a product recommendation.
How much is Transsion raising in Hong Kong?
SCMP reported a maximum base fundraising target of HK$3.36 billion, equivalent in its report to US$428.1 million. It also said the deal could reach approximately HK$3.8 billion if the overallotment option is exercised. The larger amount is conditional; it is not the base offer target.

These figures and dates are from SCMP’s October 7 report, which said it was reporting terms from the company prospectus and sources familiar with the matter. The accessible HKEX application proof is an earlier draft, so the final prospectus and allotment result are the documents to check for settled terms.
What does the reported 38% discount mean?
SCMP said the maximum offer price represented a 38% discount to Transsion’s September 30 Shanghai closing price of 53.8 yuan. This is a comparison reported against a specific past closing price, not a comparison to a Hong Kong trading price or a forecast of how the shares will perform. It does not by itself establish whether the offer is attractive.

Who has committed to the offering?
SCMP reported that 11 cornerstone investors committed HK$1.24 billion in shares, an amount it said could represent up to 40% of total funds raised. Named participants include Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC, Shenzhen Longsys Electronics and Bank of China Wealth Management. A cornerstone commitment is an allocation commitment; it is distinct from the public subscription process and does not guarantee the offer’s eventual performance.

What is confirmed—and what remains pending?
Transsion’s announcement index lists a September 29, 2026 notice about publication of its post-hearing information pack and a September 19 notice concerning HKEX review: Transsion announcement index. The dated SCMP report supplies the October offer terms, while the application proof provides earlier filing context. Neither the expected October 15 trading date nor the maximum price should be treated as proof of a completed debut or final allotment.
