Android Authority reported on October 5, 2026, that Amazon’s 16GB Kindle Colorsoft was available for $189.99, described as 34% off. That report does not verify Amazon’s live price, stock, deal end time, or the reference price behind the percentage. Amazon announced a refreshed Kindle lineup in October 2026, so check the exact model on the listing before buying: the reported offer concerns a 16GB Colorsoft, not necessarily one of the newly announced models.
What the $189.99 Kindle Colorsoft deal includes
The reported price applies to the 16GB Kindle Colorsoft. Android Authority’s October 5, 2026 deal report called it a 7-inch color E Ink reader and described the price as 34% off. The percentage and sale price are that publication’s claims; neither was independently confirmed against Amazon’s live US listing. The available information also does not establish the offer’s reference price or how long it lasts.
Amazon’s October 16, 2024 announcement described the original Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition as having a 7-inch Colorsoft display, color highlighting, a waterproof design, USB-C, wireless charging, up to eight weeks of battery life, and an auto-adjusting front light. Those are specifications Amazon announced for that Signature Edition; they should not be assumed to describe every detail of the discounted 16GB model. Check the listing’s specifications for the exact unit being sold.

How the deal relates to Amazon’s newer Colorsoft models
Amazon announced a refreshed Kindle family, including new Colorsoft models, in October 2026. That makes generation important: a discounted 16GB unit is not automatically the newest model just because it is offered during the same period. The available announcement and deal report do not provide enough SKU-level detail to compare the older 16GB model with the newly announced Colorsoft models across display, lighting, battery, water resistance, included features, price, or return terms.
#1 Best Overall
- Read in color – The 7" Colorsoft display is high-contrast and easy on the eyes, with paper-like color that brings covers and content to life.
- A brand-new experience – The Kindle Colorsoft display is optimized for reading in color and is different from the Kindle Paperwhite display, which is optimized for black and white reading.
- Color your pages – Highlight your favorite scenes in yellow, orange, blue, and pink.
- Marathon reading – A single charge via USB-C lasts up to 8 weeks.
- Read in any light – Adjust the display from white to amber to read in bright sunlight or in the dark.
Before choosing, compare the exact model name and generation on Amazon’s product page with the newly announced model. If you want the latest generation, confirm that the listing identifies it explicitly rather than relying on “Kindle Colorsoft” alone.
What to check before placing an order
- Open Amazon’s US product listing and confirm that the selected item is the 16GB Kindle Colorsoft described in the deal report.
- Check the displayed price, stock status, and any deal end time immediately before checkout; each can change.
- Read the listing’s specifications to confirm the model’s screen, lighting, battery, water resistance, and included features rather than applying the 2024 Signature Edition description to it.
- Review the return terms shown for that item and seller before ordering.
- If adding a case, verify that the manufacturer explicitly lists compatibility with the exact prior-generation 16GB model. A case for another Colorsoft generation may not fit.
Why the timing may matter
TechRadar’s October 2, 2026 preview said the Prime Day event was scheduled for October 6 and 7 and discussed Kindle deals alongside Amazon’s newly announced lineup. That schedule provides context for the reported October 5 offer, but it does not confirm that the $189.99 price remained available during the event or afterward.
