For the quickest built-in full-page screenshot, use Ctrl + Shift + S in Firefox or Microsoft Edge on Windows and Linux; Firefox uses Command + Shift + S on macOS. Then choose Save full page in Firefox or Capture full page in Edge. Chrome uses a DevTools workflow rather than a verified direct full-page shortcut, and Apple’s documentation does not establish a Safari full-page screenshot shortcut.

These instructions cover desktop browsers. Menus and feature availability can vary by version, operating system, device, or market. The linked browser documentation was reviewed for this guide on September 29, 2026.

Full-page screenshot shortcuts at a glance

Browser Windows/Linux macOS What to do next
Firefox Ctrl + Shift + S Command + Shift + S Choose Save full page, then save or copy the capture. Mozilla instructions.
Microsoft Edge Ctrl + Shift + S Not established in the linked Microsoft instructions Choose Capture full page, then copy or save. Availability and functionality may vary. Microsoft instructions.
Google Chrome Ctrl + Shift + P opens DevTools’ Command Menu Command + Shift + P opens DevTools’ Command Menu Search the menu for a screenshot action and check its label in your installed version. This is not a dedicated full-page screenshot shortcut. Chrome shortcut reference.
Safari Not applicable to this macOS guide No verified built-in full-page screenshot shortcut established Apple’s cited documentation covers Web Inspector, not a full-page screenshot command. Apple Safari developer tools guide.

In short, Firefox and Edge have the most direct documented built-in routes. Chrome’s menu shortcut is only the first step in a DevTools workflow; Safari’s cited Apple material does not confirm a native full-page capture route.

Firefox: capture the entire page with a shortcut

Mozilla documents Firefox Screenshots on Windows, Linux, and macOS. Opening the screenshot interface does not automatically select a full-page image: choose the full-page option inside the interface.

  1. Open the webpage you want to capture.
  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + S on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + S on macOS. Alternatively, right-click an empty area of the page and select Take Screenshot.
  3. Select Save full page. Choose Save visible only if you want the portion currently on screen.
  4. Download the image or copy it to the clipboard from the screenshot interface.

Mozilla also documents Ctrl + S or Command + S and Ctrl + C or Command + C for saving and copying within the screenshot interface. If the keyboard action behaves differently in your installation, use the visible interface controls. See Mozilla’s Firefox screenshot instructions, last updated June 15, 2026.

Microsoft Edge: use Capture full page

Edge’s documented shortcut opens its Screenshot tool; the full-page choice is a separate action in that tool.

  1. Open the page in Edge.
  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + S.
  3. Select Capture full page.
  4. Use the interface to mark up the image if needed, then copy or save it.

Microsoft also lists the Settings menu and a page context menu as ways to reach Screenshot. Its feature page cautions that availability and functionality can differ by device type, market, and browser version; if the shortcut or option is missing, look for Screenshot in the menus. See Microsoft’s Edge Screenshot page.

Chrome: open DevTools’ Command Menu, then inspect available actions

Chrome’s documented Ctrl + Shift + P shortcut on Windows/Linux and Command + Shift + P on Mac opens the DevTools Command Menu. It is not itself a full-page screenshot hotkey. Chrome documentation supports screenshot actions in DevTools, and a Chrome 89 release note described capturing a full node, including content below the fold. That historical note is evidence of the capability, not a current end-to-end instruction for every release.

  1. Open the target page in Chrome.
  2. Open DevTools. If DevTools is already open, use the operating-system-appropriate Command Menu shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + P on Windows/Linux or Command + Shift + P on Mac.
  3. Search for screenshot-related actions and read the exact command labels shown by your installed Chrome version. Select the full-page or full-node action only if it is present and clearly matches the capture you need.
  4. Follow the prompt or save dialog Chrome presents, and inspect the resulting image to confirm that it contains the intended page extent.

The exact current menu command sequence is not established by the cited documentation, so do not assume that a remembered command name appears in every Chrome release. The official references are Chrome’s Command Menu guide, DevTools keyboard shortcuts, and the historical Chrome 89 DevTools release note.

Safari on macOS: what Apple’s documentation confirms

Apple documents enabling developer features in Safari and opening Web Inspector through the Develop menu or Option + Command + I. Those instructions do not establish that Web Inspector has a full-page screenshot command, and they do not confirm a dedicated full-page screenshot shortcut.

  1. To enable Safari’s developer features, open Safari > Settings > Advanced and use the developer-feature control shown in your Safari version.
  2. Open Web Inspector from the Develop menu, or press Option + Command + I.
  3. Do not treat that shortcut as a screenshot shortcut. Apple’s cited Web Inspector documentation does not provide a verified full-page capture sequence.

Apple’s references are Use the developer tools in the Develop menu and Web Inspector settings. If a Safari-specific capture method is essential, verify it against the exact Safari and macOS versions in use rather than relying on an undocumented shortcut.

Choose the right route for the job

  • For a fast, documented browser capture: use Firefox or Edge and choose the explicit full-page option after opening the screenshot tool.
  • For Chrome: use DevTools and verify the available screenshot action in the installed release; the Command Menu shortcut only opens the menu.
  • For Safari: do not assume a built-in full-page keyboard shortcut based on Apple’s cited developer-tools pages.
  • When only the current viewport is needed: choose the visible-area option where offered rather than a full-page capture.

Common problems and what to try

The shortcut does nothing

Check that you are using the modifier for the operating system: Firefox uses Command on Mac and Ctrl on Windows/Linux. In Edge, Microsoft’s cited shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + S. If a shortcut is unavailable or intercepted in your environment, open the browser’s menu or use its context-menu route where documented.

The result contains only what was visible

Opening the capture interface is not the same as selecting full-page mode. In Firefox choose Save full page; in Edge choose Capture full page. In Chrome, confirm the selected DevTools action refers to full-page or full-node capture rather than an area or visible-viewport capture.

The named option is missing

Browser interfaces change, and Edge specifically warns that availability and functionality may vary by device, market, and version. Check the browser’s current menus and official help for the installed release. For Chrome, do not assume a command label from an older tutorial remains available.

The capture is incomplete or looks wrong

Confirm that the page itself has finished loading and inspect the saved file before sharing it. A full-page capture can only include content the browser renders; a capture tool cannot guarantee that a site’s deferred or interactive content has loaded correctly. If the output is wrong, reload the page and try again, or capture the relevant visible section separately.

If you need repeatable captures from code or an AI agent, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request accepts a URL and returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Cookie and consent banners are accepted like a visitor and 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

Example using cURL (replace YOUR_API_KEY with your access key):

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options and response details. The same endpoint is available from Python and Node.js:

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

The service also supports full-page capture, CSS-selector element captures, device and viewport settings, retina scale, PDF controls, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture, wait conditions, request and resource blocking, headers, cookies, user agents, authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, configurable caching, signed image links, async jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture, usage reporting, and an OpenAPI spec. These options are useful for automation; they are not browser keyboard shortcuts.

Privacy note for Firefox Screenshots

Mozilla says Screenshots interaction telemetry does not collect the page URL or details of the captured image. This statement concerns interaction-event telemetry; it should not be read as a general claim about every kind of data handling by Firefox or the websites being captured. See Mozilla’s support page for its wording and context.
