The KEF Kube 12 MIE is a sealed, powered 12-inch subwoofer with 300W RMS Class D amplification. A What Hi-Fi? deal article published on 1 October 2026 reported it at £599 at Peter Tyson, describing that as 25% off. The award in the headline belongs to the KEF Q Concerto Meta 5.1 speaker system—not to a standalone review of the subwoofer—so the system’s listening praise should not be mistaken for an independent Kube 12 MIE verdict.
What is the reported deal?
What Hi-Fi? reported a £599 price at Peter Tyson on 1 October 2026, describing it as 25% off the previous £800 price. The article’s prose calls the reduction £200, while its displayed comparison says £201; “about £200” is the clearest way to describe the reported saving. It also named Amazon, KEF and Richer Sounds as retailers where the offer was available, and said Peter Tyson’s offer included a free 3-metre Fell Audio subwoofer cable. These are dated deal and bundle details, not confirmation of live pricing, stock or current bundle terms. Check the retailer listing before buying. What Hi-Fi?’s 1 October 2026 deal report
KEF’s cited product page is for its Japan storefront and displays ¥159,500; that regional price is not a UK price. KEF’s Kube 12 MIE product page

What Hi-Fi? named the KEF Q Concerto Meta 5.1 speaker system its 2025 Awards winner. Its review discusses the Kube 12 MIE as part of that complete surround package. The deal article explicitly notes that the subwoofer was not reviewed independently, so the award does not establish a separate award or standalone review verdict for the Kube.

| Specification | KEF listing |
|---|---|
| Cabinet and driver | Sealed; 12-inch front-firing driver |
| Amplifier | 300W RMS Class D |
| Frequency response | 22–140 Hz (±3 dB) |
| Maximum output | 114 dB |
| Inputs | RCA phono and speaker-level connections |
| Wireless expansion | Port for optional KEF KW1 wireless kit |
| Room adjustment | Three room-position EQ options |
| Dimensions and weight | 410 × 393 × 410 mm; 18.6 kg |
The dimensions are approximately 41 × 39 × 41 cm. Allow for the cabinet’s floor footprint and access to its connections when choosing a location; at 18.6 kg, it is also a substantial item to move. A sealed design and room-position EQ options may give flexibility, but they do not remove the need to find a suitable position in your room.
Will it work with your system?
KEF lists both RCA phono and speaker-level inputs, plus an expansion port for the optional KW1 wireless kit. Before ordering, check which output your receiver, amplifier or other audio system provides and confirm that it matches a connection on the subwoofer. If you want wireless placement, note that the KW1 is optional rather than listed as built in.

The reported Peter Tyson bundle included a 3-metre cable, but bundle contents can change. If buying a cable separately, verify that its connectors match your equipment and that 3 metres—or another chosen length—will reach the planned position.

In its review of the complete Q Concerto Meta 5.1 system, What Hi-Fi? described the Kube’s contribution as controlled and forceful. On a film explosion, the reviewer wrote: “The explosion towards the start of this sequence is delivered with a hefty dose of low-end punch, and the subwoofer delivers its gut-punch of low end while remaining in total control.” That is a subjective listening impression in the full system, not a lab result or a standalone test of the subwoofer.

The same review said the Bowers & Wilkins 606/607 S3 package’s subwoofer was “a touch more tuneful,” while the KEF delivered “a powerful and dynamic low-end kick.” Treat that as one publication’s comparison under its review conditions, not a universal ranking of either subwoofer.
