Is a KEEN Targhee suitable for hiking in the French Alps?
KEEN’s product descriptions identify features that may matter on a hike, including waterproofing and traction, but they do not establish how either Targhee model performs on a particular Alpine route. Suitability depends on the route, conditions, season, fit, and whether a low shoe or a mid-height boot better meets your needs. The Men’s Targhee III Waterproof is a separate model. KEEN describes KEEN.DRY waterproofing, KEEN.ALL-TERRAIN rubber traction with multidirectional lugs, and a generous forefoot fit. Its official page displayed a $180 price when accessed; prices and listings can change. Those feature descriptions do not amount to a comparative field test against the Targhee IV. A separate KEEN.com search listing showed a women’s Targhee IV at $135, down from $180, but that is a KEEN listing—not evidence of an Amazon Prime Big Deal Days discount. Sale prices and availability can vary by model, seller, size, and date.

What to verify in a live listing
- The exact model and whether it is a shoe or a mid-height boot.
- The seller, available size, current price, and whether the offer is Prime-eligible.
- The reference price used to calculate any advertised percentage off.

Start with the fit and the kind of hike you plan to do.
