KDE Gear 25.12.3, released March 5, 2026, is a maintenance update: KDE says it delivers bug-fix source releases and updated translations across its application collection, not a major feature launch. The release announcement highlights fixes in KDE Connect, NeoChat and Umbrello; the full changelog also records work in apps including Kdenlive, Itinerary, Kate and Merkuro.
What KDE Gear 25.12.3 includes
KDE describes Gear as a coordinated collection of more than 180 applications, along with dozens of programming libraries and feature plugins. In its March 5, 2026 release announcement, KDE characterizes version 25.12.3 as bug-fix source releases and updated translations for that collection.
That scope matters: 25.12.3 is a point maintenance release, so the announcement’s emphasis is on fixing existing behavior rather than introducing a headline set of new features.
Fixes highlighted by KDE
- KDE Connect: Fixed an issue where clicking a plugin row would not change its status.
- NeoChat: Prevented the timeline from scrolling when a user reacts to a message.
- Umbrello: Fixed a crash triggered by deleting a complete scene.
These are the examples KDE selected for its announcement; they are not the complete list of changes in the release.

When can you get KDE Gear 25.12.3?
KDE asks distribution and app-store packagers to update their application packages. The March 5 release announcement does not establish that every distribution or store made the update available at the same time, or that it is currently available from a particular source.

What the release means for users
If a fix addresses a problem you have encountered, the practical next step is to check whether your package source offers the updated application. Otherwise, 25.12.3 is best understood as routine reliability and translation maintenance across a large collection, with the exact changes depending on the app you use.
