KB5032278 is a non-security preview update for Windows 10 version 22H2, released November 30, 2023. It adds a Copilot in Windows preview button and enlarges the taskbar’s news & interests feature. Copilot was not enabled for every Windows 10 installation: Microsoft began a controlled rollout to eligible Home and Pro devices, with managed-device, taskbar-position, and rollout settings affecting availability.
What KB5032278 adds to Windows 10
Microsoft identifies KB5032278 as the November 30, 2023 preview update for Windows 10 version 22H2, bringing the operating system to build 19045.3758. The update is non-security and applies to all editions, but some of its headline features have narrower eligibility. Microsoft’s release notes list the feature changes and fixes.
Copilot in Windows preview
The update adds a Copilot in Windows (in preview) button on the right side of the taskbar. Microsoft said the button would not overlap desktop content or block open app windows. The button’s inclusion in the update does not mean Copilot immediately appeared for every device; Microsoft started with a small audience and planned a broader, controlled rollout.
Larger news & interests
Microsoft also made the Windows 10 news & interests feature larger, saying the change was intended to make it more useful and show more of the content users care about. This is a change to the taskbar feature, separate from Copilot.

Other changes and fixes
The release notes also describe fixes for Internet Explorer mode becoming unresponsive, cursor movement lag in some screen-capture scenarios, and the touch keyboard not appearing during the out-of-box experience. Other changes include app-default functionality, notifications related to opting in to Windows updates, an update to the Netherlands time-zone shape file, and fixes involving Trusted Sites Zone policy and Internet Explorer modal dialogs.
Does KB5032278 install Copilot on Windows 10?
It adds the Copilot feature and taskbar button, but availability depends on eligibility and rollout. In its November 20, 2023 announcement, the Windows Insider Program team said the initial rollout was for Windows 10 version 22H2 Home and Pro devices. Microsoft’s announcement described a controlled feature rollout, so installing the preview update alone did not guarantee that Copilot would be enabled immediately.

The initial rollout excluded managed Windows 10 Pro devices and Windows 10 Enterprise and Education devices. Microsoft also documented that Copilot was unsupported when the taskbar was positioned vertically along the left or right edge of the screen. These rollout details are described in the Windows Insider announcement and its November 30 Release Preview update notice.

Microsoft’s initial Copilot preview was not equivalent to the update’s all-editions servicing applicability. Eligibility and timing depended on edition and management status, and the feature was phased in rather than switched on for everyone at once.

- Pro: Non-managed Windows 10 version 22H2 Pro devices were included; managed Pro devices were excluded from the initial rollout.
- Enterprise and Education: These editions were excluded from the initial Copilot rollout described by Microsoft.
- Taskbar placement: Copilot was unsupported with the taskbar arranged vertically on the left or right.
- Update preference: Eligible consumer and non-managed business devices could opt into new experiences by enabling the latest-updates setting in Windows Update. IT-managed devices did not have that setting enabled unless an administrator configured policy.
These statements describe the initial 2023 rollout, not a guarantee of current feature availability on a device today.
How to get KB5032278 through Windows Update
