Karnataka received Windergy India’s National Award for Highest Under-Construction Wind Capacity for 2024–2025. The award ranks states on wind projects that are being built, not on capacity already commissioned and feeding the grid. Separately, Karnataka’s renewable energy agency, KREDL, reported a “Highest Wind Capacity Pipeline” recognition at Global Wind Day 2026 in Goa. The two announcements have different names, come from different events and cover different periods, and the available sources do not show that they are the same award.
Which award Karnataka received
Windergy India’s post-show report lists “Karnataka – National Award for Highest Under-Construction Wind Capacity” under its State Leadership Awards for 2024–2025. The same report lists other state awards in separate categories. Gujarat, for example, is recognised under a different heading for highest cumulative installed wind capacity.
That separation matters for reading the word “highest.” Karnataka’s win is a ranking within one category and one award cycle. It is not a statement that Karnataka has the largest wind fleet in India, and it does not rank the state on installed capacity.
The separate 2026 announcement
KREDL reported that its managing director, K.P. Rudrappaiah, received the “Highest Wind Capacity Pipeline” award on Karnataka’s behalf from Union Minister Pralhad Joshi at Global Wind Day 2026 in Goa. KREDL’s post names the presenter and the recipient but does not include an attributable direct quote from either of them.

- FIFTH-GENERATION WIND TURBINE KIT: Updated version of the best-selling STEM kit about wind power and energy, kids can make their own wind turbine to explore this renewable energy source.
- OPTIMIZED FOR INDOOR & OUTDOOR USE: Design includes a new blade hub and gear ratio to enhance performance in outdoor wind and with indoor fan setups.
- WHAT YOU LEARN: Dive into the technology behind one of the most promising sources of clean energy, how it has been used it the past, and how it is used today.
- INCLUDES ELECTRIC MODEL CAR: Use your turbine to generate and store electricity to power a model car in just two minutes—no batteries required!
- GUIDED JOURNEY THROUGH WIND POWER: The 32-page, full-color manual provides illustrated step-by-step assembly instructions and easy-to-understand explanations about the scientific concepts at work.
Treat this as a second recognition with its own name, event and year. Do not describe it as a repeat or confirmation of the Windergy India award.
Installed capacity and under-construction capacity
Most of the confusion in coverage of this award comes from mixing two measures. Installed capacity is wind capacity that has been commissioned. Under-construction or pipeline capacity is projects that are being built and are not yet counted as installed. A state can rank high on one measure and be far from the top on the other.

- The windmill generator uses green science to harness wind power and light an LED bulb.
- This kit contains all the materials needed to build a 5-inch windmill generator with LED light. Just add a recycled soda bottle.
- An enclosed pamphlet contains fun facts about renewable energy.
- Detailed assembly instructions included.
- Recommended for ages 8 years and up.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) reported 6.05 GW of wind capacity added across India in FY 2025–26. MNRE called this a record annual addition and a nearly 46% increase over FY 2024–25, and said Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra were among the primary contributing states. Those are India-wide commissioned additions, not Karnataka’s construction pipeline.

- Single-piece blade construction for improved durability and better aerodynamics.
- Generate electricity to charge a battery and power a small model car.
- New weatherproof battery box can be left outside!
- Includes stakes to secure the turbine to the ground.
| Figure | Value | What it measures | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Karnataka standalone wind projects under construction | Nearly 9 GW | Projects being built, as stated in KREDL’s event transcript | KREDL, 2026. Exact as-of date not stated; methodology not independently verified |
| Karnataka installed wind capacity | 8,193.29 MW | Commissioned capacity | MNRE, in a Lok Sabha answer. As of 31 October 2025 |
| India cumulative installed wind capacity | 59,201.07 MW | Commissioned capacity, nationwide | MNRE year-wise table. As of 30 September 2026 |
| India wind capacity added in 2024–25 | 4,151.31 MW | Commissioned additions in that year, nationwide | MNRE, 2025 |
| India wind capacity added in FY 2025–26 | 6.05 GW | Commissioned additions in that year, nationwide; described by MNRE as a record | MNRE press release, 2026. Karnataka’s own FY 2025–26 addition not stated |
What the “nearly nine GW” figure does and does not show
- It describes standalone wind projects that KREDL says are under construction. It is not an installed total.
- It should not be added to the 8,193.29 MW installed figure to produce a single state capacity number, because the two measure different stages of the same projects.
- The coverage does not include a project-by-project list, a written definition of “pipeline,” or the method used to reach the total.
- No comparable state-by-state under-construction dataset appears in the available material. Karnataka’s position against other states on this measure therefore cannot be checked, and no ranking beyond the award category should be inferred.
What the event transcript says
KREDL’s post embeds a transcript of the Global Wind Day 2026 event, which includes this sentence:
“This award recognizes Karnataka for building 1 of India’s strong wind development pipelines, with nearly nine GW of standalone wind projects currently under construction.”

The Windergy India award is a named, dated category recognition for under-construction wind capacity in 2024–2025. The KREDL pipeline figure is an agency-reported number for projects under construction. Installed-capacity figures from MNRE are a separate and fully different measure, and they are the right basis for any statement about how much wind power Karnataka is currently generating.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- Realistic Wind Turbine Model: This wind turbine model toy mimics a real wind turbine to scale, and the most interesting thing is that its blades can also turn.
- 21.65inch Large Size Model: Compared to other ordinary wind turbine models, this wind turbine model has a large size, which can be installed up to 55cm/ 21.65inch.
- Wind-up Wind Turbine: This windmill toy adopts wind-up design that enables the blades turn automatically after it gets winded up. To wind it up, we just need to turn its blades clockwise for several rounds.
- Learn While Playing: This model of a wind turbine is not only a toy, but also a scientific and educational tool. It can guide children to understand the role of wind and inertia more intuitively, and cultivate children's interest in science.
- Suitable for Multiple Occasions: Kids can play with this windmill toy on their own or DIY transform it in the company of their parents. Teachers can also use it as an improvised teaching tool in the classroom.
