Kamatera alternatives include specialist cloud VM providers such as DigitalOcean, OVHcloud, Vultr, Akamai Cloud, and Scaleway, as well as large cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud. They are candidates to compare—not interchangeable replacements: the right choice depends on your server configuration, region, bandwidth, billing, and how much administration you want to handle.

10 Kamatera alternatives to consider

This shortlist combines specialist providers and hyperscalers. DigitalOcean’s alternatives guide and its 2023 annual report identify several of these companies as competitors or examples of providers in the broader cloud market. Those sources do not establish that any option matches Kamatera feature for feature, or that one is best for a particular workload.

  1. DigitalOcean

DigitalOcean offers Droplets, its virtual machines, and is a practical candidate to include when comparing cloud VM plans. Its pricing page lists Basic Droplets from $4 per month; the actual resources and included transfer depend on the selected configuration. DigitalOcean says per-second billing with a 60-second minimum took effect on January 1, 2026. Check the current plan and billing terms before estimating a workload’s cost. DigitalOcean pricing and its Droplet pricing details provide the relevant plan information.

  2. OVHcloud

OVHcloud is one of the specialist providers named in DigitalOcean’s alternatives guide and 2023 company filing. Compare its current VM configuration, region, included transfer, and add-on charges with the Kamatera setup you plan to replace.

  3. Vultr

Vultr’s Cloud Compute is a virtual-machine product, making it a relevant option for a VM comparison. Check the selected plan’s resources, location, transfer allowance, and billing terms on the provider’s Cloud Compute product page.

  4. Akamai Cloud (formerly Linode)

Linode is now presented as Akamai Cloud. Akamai is named in DigitalOcean’s 2023 filing among examples of smaller or niche cloud competitors. Confirm current product names and plan details with Akamai when comparing it with Kamatera.

  5. Scaleway

Scaleway appears in DigitalOcean’s alternatives guide as a cloud-provider candidate. Evaluate its available locations and VM configurations against your needs rather than assuming its plans map directly to a Kamatera server.

  6. AWS

Amazon Web Services is a broad cloud platform rather than a like-for-like specialist VM provider. AWS Lightsail is a virtual-server option with pricing that AWS describes as low and predictable. Review the current Lightsail plan and total expected charges for your specific configuration; the available information here does not support a numerical comparison with a particular Kamatera plan. 7. Microsoft Azure

Azure is another broad cloud platform in the provider shortlist. Compare the actual VM size and region you need, together with storage, network transfer, and any services required to operate the server.

  8. Google Cloud

Google Cloud is a hyperscaler candidate for workloads that may need a broader cloud platform. Check the current configuration and regional pricing for the VM and related services you intend to use.

  10. IBM Cloud

IBM Cloud rounds out the hyperscaler options in this shortlist. Assess the specific VM offering and any required supporting services; the provider name alone does not establish suitability or price parity with Kamatera.

  11. Alibaba Cloud

Alibaba Cloud is also named as a broad cloud-platform candidate. Check its current regional product availability and configuration-specific costs before making a migration decision.

The list contains 11 names when the specialist providers and hyperscalers in the source set are counted individually. “10 alternatives” is therefore best treated as a shortlist topic rather than a claim that there are exactly ten equivalent plans; use the options that fit your requirements.

How to compare alternatives fairly

Start with the server you actually run or intend to run, then compare each provider using the same configuration and geography. A low advertised starting price is not a meaningful comparison if it covers fewer resources, a different region, or less transfer.

  • Compute: Match the number and type of vCPUs and the amount of RAM. Check whether the provider describes CPU allocation or performance in a way that changes what the configuration delivers.
  • Storage: Compare storage type and capacity, not only the VM price. Account for any separate storage charges your workload requires.
  • Network transfer: Compare included outbound transfer and the cost of expected overages. A plan with less included bandwidth may cost more at your actual traffic level.
  • Location: Confirm that the provider offers a region that suits your users and operational needs. Compare prices for the same geography where possible.
  • Billing: Check whether the plan is billed hourly or monthly, whether a monthly cap applies, and how the provider calculates partial use. Do not assume billing rules are the same across providers.
  • Additional charges: Include backups and network services that are separate from the VM price. Add any support or taxes applicable to your account and location.
  • Administration: Establish who is responsible for operating the server, maintaining the operating system, and handling routine infrastructure tasks. A managed service is not the same offer as an unmanaged VM.

Choose between an unmanaged VM and managed hosting

A cloud VM gives you a virtual server, but it does not necessarily include someone to administer your application or server. If reducing server-management work matters more than having a like-for-like VM plan, consider managed hosting as a separate category.

DigitalOcean lists Cloudways managed hosting starting at $11 per month and describes it for WordPress and PHP applications. That is a different operational offer from an unmanaged Droplet or a Kamatera VM, so compare the management layer and application fit—not just the starting price. The price is the figure displayed on DigitalOcean’s pricing page; check the current offer and plan details before choosing. DigitalOcean pricing.

Before you move a workload

A provider shortlist cannot answer questions about your own migration. Before committing, verify the terms and operational details that affect your particular application.

  • Confirm that the required region and VM configuration are currently available.
  • Calculate costs using your expected running time, outbound traffic, storage, backups, and other required services.
  • Review current support terms and service commitments directly with the provider; this shortlist does not establish response times or SLA coverage.
  • Check data-location requirements and the provider’s current terms for the regions you are considering.
  • Plan a test on the target configuration before moving production traffic, and validate application behavior under your own workload. No comparative performance result is established by the provider list.
