The original JOURNEY ALTI combines a reversible felt-and-vegan-leather desk mat with a detachable Qi-compatible charging panel that can sit on either side. JOURNEY rates the panel for up to 15W phone charging and 5W earbud charging. Its flexible layout and storage area may suit a tidy, charging-focused desk, but the mat takes up substantial space, and a 2023 reviewer found its leather side less suitable for fast mouse movements.
How the ALTI mat and charger are designed
JOURNEY describes the original ALTI as a reversible desk mat: one face is vegan leather and the other is felt. A document-storage area is built into the mat, while the magnetic charging panel detaches and can be positioned on either the left or right. That lets you choose which side of the desk is easiest to reach without moving the entire mat. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent test findings. JOURNEY’s EU product page
Charging: supported devices and power setup
JOURNEY’s EU listing specifies USB-C input, up to 15W wireless output for a phone, and up to 5W for earbuds. The company says the panel is Qi compatible and lists iPhone 12 and later, wireless-charging AirPods models, and wireless-charging Android phones and earbuds as compatible categories. These are manufacturer-rated capabilities; they are not independently measured charging speeds, and compatibility depends on the device supporting wireless charging.

The product’s compatibility claim does not mean every Android phone or earbud will charge, nor does it guarantee that a device will receive the maximum rated output.

An indexed copy of JOURNEY’s user guide says to connect the panel to a USB-C power adapter rated at 20W or higher. The available information does not establish whether an adapter is included with every regional package, so check the contents for the exact market and version before buying an additional adapter. Footprint and model differences
The official EU listing gives the regular ALTI mat dimensions as 37 × 68 cm. That is a meaningful desk footprint, so measure the available area before ordering, especially if you need room for a keyboard, monitor stand, or other desk accessories. The listed size is specific to the regular model and EU page. JOURNEY’s EU product page

Mouse feel, spills, and cleaning
Gerald Lynch’s iMore review, published 25 April 2023, praised the charging flexibility but reported that the leather surface was not ideal for fast mouse sweeps. He also noted that the felt side could get dirty. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee of how every mouse, sensor, or user will fare. If quick, uninterrupted mouse movement is central to your setup, consider the surface trade-off before choosing the mat. iMore review by Gerald Lynch

JOURNEY calls the mat splashproof and says its treated vegan-leather side is water resistant. Its care guidance is to use mild soap, water, and a microfiber towel; the manufacturer says not to machine wash the mat. In Gerald Lynch’s 25 April 2023 iMore review, the then-current direct price was listed as $129.99 / £109.99. He described the mat as large, liked its two charging spots and adjustable left-or-right charger placement, and identified the price and surface behavior as downsides. Those prices are historical review figures, not a current quote. The EU listing showed €104.99 on sale against a €139.99 regular price when indexed; both figures are market- and time-specific, so check the seller for current pricing. iMore review · JOURNEY EU listing

- A good fit: You want a reversible mat, value moving a detachable charger to either side, and have enough desk space for the listed 37 × 68 cm footprint.
- Think twice: You prioritize fast mouse sweeps on a consistent surface, dislike materials that may need upkeep, or have limited desk space.
- Before ordering: Confirm your phone or earbuds support wireless charging, check the package contents for the required power adapter, and verify the current price and regional product details.
