The Memphis Grizzlies and Jordan Hawkins have agreed to part ways via waivers, ESPN reported on October 2, 2026, citing Shams Charania. Hawkins still had to clear waivers before he could become available to find another team; the report did not confirm that he had cleared, been claimed, or signed elsewhere.
What happened to Jordan Hawkins?
ESPN reported that Memphis and Hawkins agreed to part ways through the waiver process. The report described his next step as pending waiver clearance, so it does not establish his current team or free-agent status beyond the reported agreement.
Why did Memphis let Hawkins go?
The available report does not give a reason for Memphis’s decision. It does not establish that the move was driven by performance, roster fit, or finances, and no explanation from Hawkins or a team executive was included.

How did Hawkins arrive in Memphis?
Memphis acquired Hawkins from New Orleans on September 8, 2026. NBA.com’s transaction report says the Grizzlies also received Micah Peavy and future draft consideration; the Pelicans received AJ Johnson and Taj Gibson. The waiver report followed less than a month later.

What were Hawkins’s recent numbers?
NBA.com lists Hawkins at 5.1 points per game across 51 appearances for New Orleans in the 2025–26 season. That is his Pelicans season line, not production for Memphis.
