Joey Swoll said he was rushed to hospital on Saturday morning, October 3, 2026, for a heart issue. In an October 6 update, he said he remained hospitalized but was doing much better. He has not disclosed the cause, diagnosis or treatment. Dexerto and Generation Iron reported the update.
What happened to Joey Swoll?
Swoll shared a hospital-bed photo with a post dated October 6. As reproduced by Dexerto, he wrote: “I was rushed to the hospital Saturday morning for my heart. It’s been a rough few days, I’m still here, but doing much better. Please send some love and prayers.” The Saturday he referred to was October 3, according to the October 6 reports.
His statement describes a heart-related hospital admission and his condition as of the post. It does not identify a specific medical event.

Why was he rushed to hospital?
Swoll has not publicly specified the cause or diagnosis of this episode in the reports published October 6. Those reports also do not establish what treatment he received or how severe the episode was. It should not be described as a heart attack, and there is no confirmed link to his training, past conduct or earlier heart-related episodes.

How is Joey Swoll doing now?
In his October 6 post, Swoll said he was still in hospital but “doing much better.” That is his latest reported public update here; it does not establish whether he has since been discharged or provide a medical prognosis.
What has Swoll said about earlier heart-related episodes?
2023: Surgery after what he called “genetic irregularities”
Dexerto and Generation Iron report that in 2023 Swoll said doctors had found what he described as “genetic irregularities” after he experienced pain and felt something was wrong. He subsequently had surgery. This is Swoll’s description as relayed in the reports, not an independently established diagnosis.

April 2024: An angiogram became an emergency
According to Swoll’s account reported by Dexerto and Generation Iron, a routine diagnostic angiogram became a medical emergency when a piece of equipment broke off and had to be retrieved during a procedure lasting several hours. That incident does not establish the cause of his October 2026 admission.
Earlier recovery update
Generation Iron reported that about a year after his initial heart surgery, Swoll said testing showed his heart function was “better than ever” and that his cardiologist was taking him off most medication. That was an earlier update, not information about his current condition.
