JetBlue plans to begin adding Amazon’s low-Earth-orbit satellite technology to part of its fleet in 2027, with a phased rollout after that. The upgraded Fly-Fi is intended to remain free, but JetBlue has not announced which aircraft or routes will get it first. The network was announced as Project Kuiper and was renamed Amazon Leo in November 2025.
When will JetBlue get Amazon Leo Wi-Fi?
JetBlue announced the partnership on September 4, 2025, and says it plans to introduce the satellite technology on a portion of its fleet beginning in 2027. Installation is expected to proceed in phases. A later JetBlue filing reaffirmed the 2027 plan and referred to the network by its current name, Amazon Leo. That date is a plan, not confirmation that the service is live.
JetBlue has not published aircraft tail numbers, routes, or a flight-by-flight installation calendar. The airline says it will share more details as progress continues. Until it does, passengers cannot identify a particular flight as equipped based on the announcements alone.

JetBlue says it intends to keep the upgraded service free for customers, consistent with its existing Fly-Fi offering. The announcement describes that as the plan for the new technology; it does not provide a separate launch date or additional terms for passenger access.

What changes with Amazon Leo?
JetBlue says its current Fly-Fi uses geostationary satellite technology and that the planned system will be installed on aircraft currently using the original Fly-Fi equipment. Geostationary satellites orbit about 36,000 kilometers above Earth. Amazon says its low-Earth-orbit satellites operate roughly 590–630 kilometers above Earth, a much shorter distance that supports lower latency and more reliable connectivity.
Amazon describes the aviation terminal as a full-duplex, Ka-band phased-array antenna designed for streaming and other bandwidth-intensive activities. It says the terminal can deliver download speeds of up to 1 Gbps on a single device. That is Amazon’s stated terminal capability, not a measured speed passengers should expect on an individual flight. Actual experience can depend on factors not specified in the announcement, including the number of users and onboard network conditions.

Amazon said more than 100 Kuiper satellites had been deployed as of its September 2025 announcement. That figure is a dated snapshot, not a current count.

The main announced difference is the satellite system: JetBlue describes current Fly-Fi as geostationary, while the planned upgrade will use Amazon Leo’s low-Earth-orbit network. Lower orbital altitude can support reduced latency, but JetBlue and Amazon have not published passenger speed tests or a direct performance comparison between the new service and current Fly-Fi.

The 1 Gbps figure should not be treated as a guaranteed passenger speed: Amazon states it as the capability of one aviation terminal device. The announcements also do not establish coverage details for oceanic routes, gate-to-gate availability, aircraft-by-aircraft capacity, or how the system will perform under different onboard loads.
