Jenovice Cyber Labs marketed Metropolink as a Wi-Fi surveillance system for law-enforcement and intelligence agencies, designed to combine data from sensors spread across a populated area and show detected devices in a command center. CyberScoop’s detailed account of the product dates to May 21, 2018. It described the system’s intended capabilities—not independently verified citywide coverage or proof that Jenovice had deployed it at scale.
What is Metropolink?
Metropolink was a Jenovice product promoted as an “autonomous” system for locating, listing, mapping, tracking, analyzing, and visualizing Wi-Fi networks and device identities in a selected environment. CyberScoop reported that Jenovice marketed it to law-enforcement and intelligence agencies. StateScoop also described the product as a metropolitan-surveillance system and reported government interest in similar large-scale systems.
The available product reporting is historical: CyberScoop published its investigation on May 21, 2018, around announcements associated with the June 2018 ISS World conference in Prague. The investigation reported that Jenovice CTO Tal Gleichger was scheduled to speak there on “tactical Wi-Fi interception.” An official ISS World Europe 2025 brochure later listed Jenovice among sponsors and exhibitors. That confirms visibility at an industry event, but does not establish that Metropolink is currently for sale, in operational use, or performing as advertised.

How did the reported system work?
According to CyberScoop’s 2018 reporting, Metropolink used sensors distributed around populated areas. The sensors collected device identifiers, including MAC addresses, along with geolocation data, then sent information to a command center for visualization. The intended result was a consolidated view of Wi-Fi-related devices across the selected area.

CyberScoop reported an approximately 500-meter default collection range for a sensor, with the range expandable using additional hardware. The same account said the company claimed the system could detect and track targets moving at high speed in cars or motorcycles. These are figures and capability claims reported in 2018, not independently measured performance results. Sensor range alone also does not establish uninterrupted coverage across a city: the sources do not specify the number or placement of sensors needed for a particular area.
Can Metropolink track every phone in a city?
The available evidence does not support that conclusion. Jenovice promoted broad-area Wi-Fi surveillance, but the reporting does not establish that Metropolink could detect every phone, identify every person, or maintain continuous citywide tracking. It describes a system that collected Wi-Fi-related device identifiers and location information within sensor coverage.

A device identifier is not, by itself, proof of a person’s identity. The sources do not explain how the product handled devices that were not emitting detectable Wi-Fi signals, changing or randomizing identifiers, or moving beyond sensor coverage. Nor do they provide verified deployment maps, customer results, or measured success rates. Those gaps matter when interpreting “citywide” as an operational guarantee rather than a marketing description.

| Product | Reported purpose or claim | What the reporting establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Metropolink | Distributed Wi-Fi monitoring and visualization across a selected environment. | CyberScoop’s 2018 account described its architecture and reported an approximately 500-meter default sensor range. |
| Piranha | Long-distance Wi-Fi interception. | CyberScoop described it as an interception device. The detailed material available here does not substantiate a simultaneous target-device capacity. |
| Prisonlink | A prison-focused kit intended to find unauthorized phones and Wi-Fi networks, collect device information, and disconnect a target device from its Wi-Fi access point. | These functions were described in CyberScoop’s 2018 reporting; independent performance results are not established. |
| Achilles Cloud Interception | Jenovice claimed it could extract cloud-account information from iCloud and Google accounts by stealing authentication tokens in a “fully automated and silent process.” | CyberScoop said it had not seen or heard of Achilles being successfully demonstrated in a meaningful way. |
| Orion | Listed among Jenovice’s products. | A company-directory profile lists the product, but the reviewed sources do not substantiate its capabilities. |
Was Metropolink passive, and was it legal?
Jenovice marketed Metropolink as “passive” and told CyberScoop that in many countries it did not require a warrant. Those statements are company claims, not legal findings. Whether a particular deployment is lawful depends on the jurisdiction, the data collected, how it is obtained and used, and the applicable authorization and oversight rules. The available reporting does not establish blanket legal approval or a general warrant exemption.
The “passive” label also does not describe every capability that might be added. CyberScoop reported that a Jenovice employee said malicious-payload injection could be enabled through a license upgrade. That reported option raises a distinction between observing Wi-Fi-related information and actively interfering with or exploiting devices; the article does not establish that payload injection was part of every Metropolink deployment.

Who was Jenovice, and who was the product for?
A company-directory profile records Jenovice Cyber Labs as founded in January 2012 by Leon Perez, lists Tal Gleichger as CTO, and describes its business as software-and-hardware systems for intercepting and monitoring data for government, military, and law-enforcement customers. CyberScoop and StateScoop described Metropolink as aimed specifically at law-enforcement and intelligence agencies.
